I've used Dow Scrubbing Bubbles for years as my bathroom cleaner and been very satisfied with the results. But enticed by the Kaboom Foam-Tastic commercials, I decided to test this product out and see if it was any better than Scrubbing Bubbles. Product Details Like Scrubbing Bubbles, Foam-Tastic is a foaming cleaning product. The marketing gimmick that makes Foam-Tastic a bit different is that it starts out as a blue foam and then turns white (after about 15 seconds, depending on how thickly you spray it on). Foam-tastic is designed to clean soap scum, dirt, hard water stains, calcium, grease, and grime. This non-staining fomrula may be used on tubs, glazed ceramic title, fiberglass, shower doors and curtains, sinks, countertops, and chrome fixtures. It is not appropriate for use on acrylic, unsealed granite, brass, or marble. Foam-Tastic, like Scrubbing Bubbles, comes in a steel can with a spray dispenser much like a can of hair spray. The standard size of Foam-Tastic is 19 ounces, compared to 22 ounces for Scrubbing Bubbles. Both retail for around $5.99. Results I typically use Scrubbing Bubbles in my shower, bathroom counter-tops, and bath tub. I ran a side-by-side test to compare the two. Here are my results: Ease of Use Both products are easy to use, but Foam-Tastic is a bit better. They foam up nicely and stick nicely to vertical surfaces such as shower walls. But I did find that Foam-Tastic has a thicker foam than Scrubbing Bubbles. It was also easier to see where the foam went, ensuring that all surfaces were cleaned properly. However, Foam-Tastic was a bit messier with some of the foam sticking to the dispenser and getting on my hands. As long as you wear gloves, this shouldn't be too bothersome. Scent Foam-Tastic has a stronger fresh scent. Scrubbing Bubbles also has a fresh clean scent, but it's a bit more subtle. In this case I prefer Foam-Tastic. I like a bathroom to smell clean and it certainly does with this product. Cleaning Power Both clean equally well. I was able to clean a bathtub ring with only one application, wiping clean with a sponge, with both products. In the shower both required two applications to thoroughly clean the grout. Anti-bacterial? Only Scrubbing Bubbles is an anti-bacterial product. Overall rating I still like Scrubbing Bubbles but I do have to admit that Foam-Tastic is a very good product and strong performer. Its scent is better and the blue foam is nice. It also makes cleaning an easier task, which earns bonus points from me. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars though is that it isn't an anti-bacterial product. If I use this on surfaces where I was concerned about cleaning and sanitizing, I would definitely follow up with Lysol or similar product. But for the shower and tub, I'll definitely recommend it. 4 stars.
Another Lean-N-Mean VIII entry.
