Made in USA Sites..Avoid www.footwearbyfootskins.com
Oct 02 '09
The Bottom Line Know the return policy, and hope if you do have a problem a site will stand behind their product.
What happened to "Made In USA"..well we all know that the stores have moved their factories off shore. That is one reason I try to always by from companies that actually make their products here. I will spend more money, and normally get better quality from those companies.
Just a little background, we needed a new waffle iron, and believe it or not I did find one made in the USA and buying it for $179 didn't bother me one bit. It makes great waffles, and they don't stick.
However, back to my main topic. My husband wanted some cozy house slippers. I knew that would be a big challenge, but after lots of searching I did find a website called www.footwearbyfootskins.com. Located in Minnesota, I quickly placed my order, and they arrived in about 10 days. He was very pleased with them and they have held up well. So in May 2009 I thought it would be nice to get him the moccasins for the warmer weather. I placed my second order, same size, just a soft typical moccasin bottom, and paid extra for the deerskin. They were slow to arrive, and I did have to contact them about shipping, but they did come. They appeared lovely, and were worn in the house daily.
Well, that was in June, and by the first part of August these $70 shoes were not holding up. I contacted the company, and was ask to send a picture (by the way, you can see it on my epinions.com home page). They immediately became defensive and refused to do anything about the problem. After dealing with them for over a week, I decided they should stand by their policy on their site that they want you to be happy with their products. They stand by them. NOT!
First they said the size was wrong (it was the same as the other ones) next they refused to repace them because they were not defective (how would they know that if they never saw them) in concluding we still have the moccasins that were worn two months.
I wish that they would think that maybe there was something wrong with them, but not the case.
Shopping on line is great, and I do most of all mine at my computer. However, beware of return policies.....they said they would not take them back because they were worn. Of course they were worn, and they didn't hold up for two months. Picking a shopping site is difficult even if you have used them before. Most companies are very pleasant and helpful if you have a problem. This one was an exception and just because a company is good if you don't have a problem, what will they do if you have a genuine problem. Most will help get it resolved......this one just doesn't care.
