| ferrari360's Full Review: Sony 8MB Memory Card PS2 |
All PS2 owners know that a memory card is a must have accessory. I had to learn that the hard way. On the day that I purchased my PS2, I began playing Gran Turismo 3 for hours and I had completed almost 15 percent of the game. All of the sudden, I realized that I had no memory card. Now I had just been playing for 4 hours and I wasn't willing to do it all over again. It was around 8 at night on a Saturday so most stores were closed, so my only option was to leave the system on all night. Well, there would be no purpose to that because in my county, all stores are closed on Sundays. Now anyone who lives in Bergen County New Jersey knows what I am talking about. Leave it on until Monday? I don't think so. So I brought myself to turn it off. It was hard, but I did it. On Monday, after work, the first thing I did was get to Circuit City to buy a memory card. Now I have learned my lesson.
Memory:
It has 8MB of memory, which is enough to save about 30 games. You will need only one memory card for your PS2 unless you are a millionaire and own over 30 PS2 games. Each game takes up about 256K, which is 1/4 of a megabyte. Some games take up more than 256K, some take up less. It will tell you on the back of the game, the minimum amount of memory you must have left.
Price:
You would think that an accessory that is almost as important as the controller would come with the system. It's not like you had to go out and buy the controller when you got your PS2. When you finally make the decision to buy the memory card, you will find that it costs $35. I know that it is pricey for the small cartridge, but definitely worth it. I suggest you buy a memory card along with your PS2 and save yourself the agony. Once you do have one, the memory card is easy to put in; just plug it into the port above the controller port.
This is definitely a must have for ant PS2 owner. Without it, you will have to start your game over every time you play. One tip is not to be fooled by imitation memory cards. They may be cheaper, but they don't hold as much memory as the one made by Sony.
