| josbobjan's Full Review: General Reviews of Qwest Customer Service |
Having worked for Qwest, I saw the light. The sales position pays very well, and they give you all kinds of gifts, spiffs, and rewards for selling their product. They put too much emphasis on the rewards and not enough on the customer.
If you purchase the Customers Choice package its supposed to be 32.95 per month plus taxes and fees which are either assessed by Qwest or the Government. So your 32.95 per month could be as high as 70.00 in some states with the fees and the taxes.
My idea to you is when you transfer your service, or if you get new service in a territory that is operated by Qwest, first ask for deferred billing up to 3 months for the installation or activation of your new home service. Please be aware, if this is new service, you must provide your SSN to the rep so they can run a credit check on your account to see what your credit rating will be.
Have and idea of what you want on your service before you call. I want caller id, maybe call waiting and security screen to keep telemaretkers out. And maybe voice mail. In my area that comes to 36.45 plus fees and taxes my bill comes to 47.10. With the custom choice package and voice messaging it came to 59.70 so ala carte services in my case were cheaper. So check with your neighbors about the service they have. Basic service in most areas runs about 20-22.00 per month including fees and taxes with nothing on the account but unlimited local calling. If you have a newer computer dialup msn will run you 21.95 per month through Qwest. Basic DSL 256kb up and down will run you about 39.95 per month. But, be forwarned. Once the sale is made, Qwest no longer handles any questions about the MSN service. It is all handled through MSN, billing, service, and tech support.
Qwest does offer some pretty good deals on local Cellular plans, and many customers because they are Qwest customers may not have to have a deposit. It goes back to your credit rating or if you have paid your bill on time for the last 13 months. I believe they have the best rates for anytime useage. 1000 anytime minutes, 39.95, 1500 minutes 49.95, and 2000 anytime minutes 59.95. Thats anytime day or night including weekends, and nation wide long distance from your calling area. Their shared plans are great for families on the go. One price shared minutes, calls between plan members, and calls to and from home are included and are not deducted from program minutes. Remember too, if you change calling plans you have just signed up to renew your contract for another year from the date you changed plans.
Qwest could be a better company if the management had any integrity, and if the reps were not so suseptable to the greed that comes in this enviornment. If you sell DSL I'll give you 25.00 tax free, or for every cell phone you sell I will give 10.00 tax free. Lots of money to be made, tax free that the reps can spend on anything they want. Your salary maybe 30,000 per year but with the spiffs and kickers you can easily make over 100,000 just by taking calls, and selling product. If you do it with integrity, and disclosing all aspects of the fees and taxes you won't make as much.
Thats my moneys worth on the Qwest phone front. Do some checking before you buy. It could save you some money.
Oh yeah, don't buy overpriced phones from qwest for your home, when you can get the same phone, different brand with better warranty through your local wal-mart, target or any other retailer and save 100.00 or more for 2.4 ghz phone system, or 49.00 on plain jane princess type phone.
