Pros: Looks nice, good price, fine hardware
Cons: Harddrive malfunction
The Bottom Line: Go for it. The support could have been better, but was still adequate (maybe it's just the Dell Canada support).
It was the best price/performance deal I could find.

| sgfrank's Full Review: Dell Dimension 4300 Series |
I had had my 4300 for a couple months, when all of a sudden the computer refused to boot. After many hours on the phone with Dell, they diagnosed it as a broken motherboard. Despited having purchased "next day support", in two days a technician (some outsourced guy) came with a new motherboard, and replaced the old one. Still broken. Then he decided it needed a new harddrive. Two days after that he showed with a new harddrive. Still broken. I decided to have a look at it that night (with the new harddrive and motherboard), and found some bios settings that the technician had set incorrectly, so I got it working.
Working, of course, is a relative term. Sure, it worked... But all of my data was gone (lesson #1: backup)! Dell said there was no way to get it back, and they would not cover data recovery services ($$$!).
Anyway, overall I am quite pleased with the Dell. It's speedy, and seems to run well most of the time. My only qualm is with the tech support, which I had thought was top notch (and with the loss of all my data, but harddrive failures do happen, so it's not Dell's fault, I suppose).
