Pros: cheap
Cons: changes your domain over to their ads with no warning, no response from customer service
The Bottom Line: Don't let them screw you like they did me- register your domain name somewhere else.

I really liked dotster.com when they first came around. Cheap domain names and masked url forwarding with a responsive customer service department. Well times have changed.
While my domain does not expire for 3 more months, dotster has taken it upon themselves to use my domain as a billboard for their ads and pop-ups, rather than forward to my website. I am losing tons of traffic due to this mishap. Repeated e-mails to customer service have gone unanswered. I was given no warning and only found out after people sent e-mails to let me know my site was not showing up.
I am very frustrated by the whole thing because I am not getting what I paid for.
I would suggest to anyone not to deal with this company because this could happen to you. A person puts a lot of effort into their website and to have it taken out from under them is bad business. I am now sticking with the webmaster package from geocities. They have a good record with me for nearly 3 years. (but then, dotster was good for a year and a half before this, so I guess you never know...)
I just wanted to add this update- it's now 10/25/2002 and I never heard back from Dotster after trying to contact them repeatedly. What they did was just wrong and I would never recommend this service to anyone!
