Buy.com offers almost anything the shopper is looking for from Computers, Hardware plus Software, all kinds of Electronic Equipment, Wireless Equipment, Music CDs, Movies (DVD & VHS) and Video Games.
Overall they have very good prices but be sure to shop around because some things can be bought at other places at a better price.
They do carry all major brand names, like HP, Creative Labs, Sony and so on! Here are examples of what can be found in three of their many categories.
Computers
Under computers you can buy things like a complete computer system, Desktops, Notebooks, PDAs, Monitors, Modems, Printers, Scanners, Video Cards and more!
Software
Find almost all your software needs for Business Management, Educational, Entertainment, Financial, Graphics, Office Suites, PDA Software, Programming, Utilities and more!
Electronics
In Electronics you can buy 35mm cameras, digital cameras, camcorders, headphones, home audio, MP3 devices, Telephones, TVs, DVD players and more!
My main interest and buys was DVD movies, they offered some of the best prices and on some weekends free shipping. What I enjoyed was preordering a DVD movie before it was released. Movies and Music are always released every Tuesday, with Buy.com on preorders the DVD movies would arrive the Friday or Saturday before it was released in the stores the next Tuesday.
They use your e-mail address as your identification and ask you to create a password. After that you can always order something and just supply your e-mail address and password then they fill everything in for you. (Name, Address, Credit Card)
You are not charged on the item until it ships. (That is the way it use to be!)
What turned me away!
Late last year some time Buy.com filed for Bankruptcy Protection. I had a few DVD movies preordered and the first few came on time.
Then one day I got an e-mail saying they canceled my order on The Mummy Returns, so I thought maybe it was a mistake, I waited to see if it would come in and after two weeks passed from the due date it never showed up. So I went out and bought one locally, well about a week later they finally sent it. Now I have two of the same movies! I sent them a nasty e-mail!
I had two more movies on preorder, so I went and cancelled them. The next movie was Pearl Harbor and went it was released, I picked one up locally, about a week later they also sent me one after I canceled it. They got another nasty e-mail and I asked them to remove me from their services.
When the last movie came out they didn’t cancel my membership, they charged me for the movie and never sent it. After a dozen e-mails and several weeks I had no results on getting the credit back on a movie that I didn’t get. So I e-mailed them one more time and said they had one week to credit my credit card or I was filing a report to the Better Business Bureau. The next day I got a polite e-mail saying my credit card would be credited within 3 days, and it was.
My Conclusion!
I had shopped with Buy.com for about two years without any problems. Then three problems straight in a row, I could understand one problem but not three.
They were the Best and now I will not recommend them to anyone!
