My old mechanical mouse started to work erratically so I started to look for a new one. When I saw this IBM - Micro Innovations optical mouse on sale, I decided to buy it. However, I have already been waiting 3 months for my $20 rebate (of the original $40 paid) and it has not arrived at the date of this review. The CompUSA store is not responsible - they say, and the manufacturer does not respond to my emails/calls. So please be careful if buying it with a rebate.
Otherwise this is a very nice device, the middle scroll-wheel button is constantly lighted in blue, so it looks very "cool" at night. It works quite precisely and should be more reliable than a regular mechanical mouse. It also nicely fits into one's hand thanks to the curving shape.
It connects to a USB port, but comes with a PS2/USB adapter. However, if you choose not to use the USB port, there may be some problems with installation of drivers. Mouse is recognized by PC as an unknown USB device, even when connected to PS/2 mouse socket, and sometimes stops working. It works fine with the USB connection, though.
