Consider A Trustworthy Brand Name
Jan 23 '01
The Bottom Line Seriously consider the brand name. How reputable is this company. Are they known for quality, lasting products, and so forth.
I would be concerned with both the quality and longevity of the vcr as major considerations. Mainly the reputation of the company which produces the vcr.
Personally, the brand of vcr which I have had the very best results with was a General Electric. I also believe in using a head cleaner fairly regularly, primarily as needed. I did own an Emerson brand vcr, and had to have the heads worked on twice. It finally just up and died.
I now own an Orion brand vcr. I have had an Orion brand television for quite some time now, and have no complaints whatsoever. Therefore, I thought I'd try their vcr's.
A great deal depends on the company, and a name that you can trust.
As for two heads or four, I have always had a vcr with two heads. I was told by sales people that 4 heads produce better quality picture and possibly sound. However, my two head vcr works just fine, regarding both sound and picture.
Shop around, compare and go with a company that you have had personal experience with (such as in my case General Electric proved satisfactory), or a leading company that you know you can trust.
It is worth the effort whether you are buying a vcr or a new car to comparison shop, in order to truly get your moneys worth. Which is basically a product that will work properly and withstand the test of time.
