| jcridge's Full Review: GE Advantium SCA1000D Microwave Oven |
In building a new home, I went looking for new appliances to equip my large custom-built kitchen (I LOVE to cook!). The GE Advantium Oven caught my eye and I decided to splurge on an appliance the promised oven-cooked food for microwave time.
I work 10 hour days most of the time and commute 45 minutes one way to work. By the time I reach home in the evening, I need to do something quick about dinner. Crock-pots are handy, however, you want a little variety every now and then!
With the Advantium oven, I can bake just like a real oven but in only a fraction of the time. I can make home-made cookies in 4 minutes, bake biscuits in 4 minutes, make a chicken casserole in 10 minutes vs. the hour it would take me in a regular oven!
With a new technology of cooking with halogen lights, this oven cooks just like a regular oven -- not a microwave.
Because nothing makes me feel better than putting a home-cooked meal on the table for my family -- this oven is worth the extra price (I acquired mine for about $1200). When you factor in all the costly "convenience" foods we sometimes buy just to have something that can be fixed quickly -- or all the take-out meals we buy because we feel like we just don't have the time to cook, the price isn't really unreasonable.
Definitely a must-have for executives who still love to home-cook!
