The Bottom Line: Mario RPG is a great game...with wonderful graphics for the SNES, memorable music, and innovative gameplay, this game will surely be very enjoyable.

Yes, that's right, a while ago a great RPG was made for the Super Nintendo and it was Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. With excellent graphics, amazing sound, and an interesting story, Super Mario RPG is a great game.
First of all, do not turn away from this game simply because the words "mario" and "rpg" are BOTH in the title. It seems strange at first, but the game really works very well. For lovers of the original mario platform type gamestyle, Mario RPG includes some of the same structure (while the game is in 3d, many parts of the game are similar to platform games in the way mario interacts with the world around him). And for RPG lovers, Mario RPG is, obviously, an RPG. In this way, both types of gamers can play the game and be thoroughly satisfied.
The story of Mario RPG is the most developed of almost any Mario game in existence. Basically, You play the role of Mario, who must encounter a variety of adventures in order to save princess toadstool from the evil Bowser. It seems simple at first, but the story is much more involved. Rather than just go off of that basic story premise, the game includes several other characters whom you can include in your quest. Also, there are many sub-quests you can take part in which make the story much deeper and more enjoyable in the end (believe it or not, you even get to use Bowser as one of your characters at one point in the game!).
A word to classic Mario lovers, though, the gameplay is a little different from usual. You, as mario, walk around in a 3d world, but when you make contact with enemies, you are taken to a special battle screen, where you can use a variety of attacks, items, etc. to defeat the enemy. Don't worry though, because while this is different from the basic mario platform type game, it is still fun and very innovative as well.
The graphics are excellent for Super Nintendo. The entire game is in a 3d isometric view, and the graphics are very clear, precise, and colorful. You will not find many pixelated and fuzzy graphics as most of them are very clear and nice.
As for the sound, it is very memorable. There are many addictive and interesting songs that you will probably remember for a while. It's not up to the quality of...Chrono Trigger...or Final Fantasy 3...but it's still very good.
Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars was a very innovative game for it's time. Somehow, they took Mario and turned it into a very good RPG with many characters, excellent graphics, great music, and interesting and fun gameplay.
