Potentially life-threatening in my opinion

Pros: The real-time velocity readout seems very accurate.
Cons: Crashed my PocketPC on first outing, which is VERY BAD FOR A GPS.
The Bottom Line: GPS software that becomes non-functional within the first 10 minutes of usage is unsafe for use in unfamiliar surroundings.

I used the Teletype software which came with my Teletype GPS hardware (compact flash format), on my Toshiba e740 pocket pc (PocketPC2002).
On my very first short trip around my neighborhood, the Teletype software worked fine for a bit, but then began to show weird letters and things on my screen after about 10 minutes. Apparently the software had crashed, and worse, crashed my whole PocketPC operating system. The pocketpc was refusing to respond to any buttons, including the on/off button (it was permanently stuck on). The Teletype software was not responding either, of course.
To regain use of the PocketPC, I was forced to do a reset of the PocketPC, losing absolutely everything that I had entered, including my GPS software (and network settings ,etc).
I had to go home and reinstall the GPS software from the original CDs, with the help of my home PC (which has a CD player).
Folks, this Software is not intended to be something you use in the comfort of your office. It is for use when you are in unfamiliar surroundings. I am totally afraid to count on this GPS in the field when I am in a place where I really need GPS, like out hiking on my planned vacation, in the Smoky Mountains. IF the same thing happens out there, far from familiar territory, I could end up completely lost and as a result could find myself in real trouble.
WARNING WARNING! I must warn everyone out there, this Teletype GPS hardware and software on a PocketPC like mine could be extremely hazardous to your health in my opinion, and must not be counted on for GPS, unless you first do some thorough testing and find it does not crash for you. It crashed for me within the first 10 minutes. Feel free to draw your own conclusions.
