| mountainhigh's Full Review: Kenmore 3/4 hp Heavy Duty Food Waste Disposer 6056... |
I have frequently used my son's disposal during my visits to his condo, but until yesterday I had never given it a work out to really test its abilities.
My son is moving out of his condo this week and the task at hand was to tackle the kitchen.
Now, I guess I can understand why so much left over food was collected in the refrigerator since my son and his roommate are both full time students and work.
After, I started feeding the disposal and saw how quickly it grinded, I peered underneath the sink cabinet to see what brand I was using. It was a Kenmore 3/4 hp Heavy Duty Disposal, Model 60562.
I was very impressed that the disposal quickly grinded all the left over rotten food without hesitation within a few seconds of each filling.
Pasta, limp celery stalks, meat, rotten tomatoes, moldy fruit, freezer burnt ice cream, hamburger, hot dogs, and pizza are a few examples of what I fed it.
Having a problem in the 1980's of a disposal of not wanting to grind potato peelings, I decided to take some wasted potatoes they had, peel them, and put it to the real test of grinding. Well, it passed the test with flying colors and grinded them away. After turning the disposal off with the wall switch, I took a flashlight and looked down the opening and the peelings were gone.
The unit hangs down approximately 12 5/8 inches underneath the sink and has a manual reset overload button.
Also, according to the website, it's two impellers are made out of stainless steel with a 360 degree swivel and offers a corrosion resistant grind chamber with the grind element material being made of galvanized steel.
The general warranty is 4-years.
Having owned and currently own a lot of Sear's and Kenmore products, I have always found them to be highly reliable and their customer service being 5 stars, so I certainly would not hesitate to purchase this product.
Personally, I own the Kenmore 1/2 hp disposal which is not classified as heavy duty, nor do I need "heavy duty" since I cannot use it to stuff leftovers since we have a septic tank, so I can attest to Kenmore's disposal's reliability.
A lot of consumers do not realize that Sear's has a policy of guaranteeing parts availability for 10 years after purchase. We recently put this through the test with a weed trimmer and the part was no longer available. Even though the warranty had expired, Sear's replaced the whole unit for a new one. How's that for customer satisfaction?
Thank you for reading my review, and I hope you have found it helpful in your purchasing decision.
