I am an avid digital photographer and about a year ago shopping for my Sony DSC S75 digital camera (which I have also reviewed http://www.epinions.com/content_82263838340) I came across this neat tripod at Best Buy for only $19.99.
I have wanted a good tripod for a while but considering how expensive they can be I decided to wait. However when I saw this thing, I could not pass it. I requested the salesman to let me open the box to see if its worth it. When I examined the tripod, I was convinced! and came back home with it!
Since then, I have been very happy with this and use it almost every week! This is one of the best purchases I have ever made. Don't you just love it when you buy something and actually USE it! Well that's how I feel about this tripod.
Features:
3 Section quick release leg locks: These are really handy. What this means is that you have the flexibility to raise this tripod to any height (upto about 56"). The locks are pretty smooth yet very secure. Once locked this thing does not budge! Which is good to know since I wouldn't put my expensive sony on anything which is not secure.
Center column lock: The center column also raises quite a few inches to give you the ability to adjust further. Once again great locking mechanism.
The non-slip feet make sure that the tripod does not move. I have taken pictures on this tripod on hardwood floors, carpeting, outside in my yard (which is very uneven by the way, especially when the grass has not been mowed ;-) ), getting perfect results every time.
The Camera mount: This is my least favorite part of this tripod. Unless I am missing something, its not that easy to put the camera on to the tripod. there is a little screw on the top of the mount which goes in your camera. Even though it does not take that long, it could have been easier. But I am not complaining. I am pretty happy with this regardless.
3-way pan tilt head: This is great, cause this means once the camera has been securely mounted on the head, I can tilt it in whichever direction I want. I have taken upside down pictures, side shots, angle shots.. you name it! because of this feature.
Digital Camera enthusiasts will agree with me when I say that its easier to focus (especially in the night shots when the shutter speed is low) with the tripod. I get excellent pictures every time I use this. And of course you can't beat the convenience of self timer family pictures with a tripod.
