| consumer2003's Full Review: Epson Stylus Photo 2200 Inkjet Printer |
I have owned several high quality inkjet printers and the Epson Photo 2200 is by far the best. I simply love this printer. Because I am an artist, accurate color reproduction is critical for my work. With all my previous printers I would usually spend hours (and sometimes days) balancing colors and tweaking the output until I was satisfied. From my very first test print on this printer all the colors and hues were spot-on perfect. Anyone who has had to do color matching on an inkjet printer will understand how incredible this is.
I am very finnicky about my work (just ask my professional photo print service about how picky I am) and this printer is capable of prints that are practically indistinguishable from my professionally printed Cibachromes (Ilford). For me, the Cibachromes seem to have a subtle richness that inkjets can't yet quite produce, but most people won't even notice. But then a large Cibachrome costs me about $300 while a comparable print from the 2200 costs about $3.
I have had this printer for about six months, and have not had a single problem. No clogged jets, no connectivity problems, and no paper feed problems. The only negative I can think of is that the new Epson archival inks that the 2200 uses will not print on all photo inkjet papers (not even all the Epson papers are compatible).
