Guess what? My favorite store in the whole world is Target. Upon finding myself pregnant and miserable this Christmas, I thought I'd give the online store a try, and I was not disappointed!
Target's website is functional and easy to navigate. If you don't like the color red, chances are you aren't going to like this website. Since we are so close to Valentine's Day, I think the color is fitting.
Gifts
If it's a gift you are looking for, I can't imagine you wouldn't find something at Target befitting. I hit the big time at Christmas while thumbing through Lucky magazine. Target had nearly 100 gifts in a special advertising section, and any that you selected would be delivered to one destination for free! I took advantage of this offer and bought some Sonia Kashuk lipgloss.
To decide on a gift, Target gives you a couple of options to help your search. First, you can browse by occasion. Included within are Valentine's Day gifts, wedding, new baby, birthday for him and her, birthday for the kids, housewarming, anniversary, thank you, graduation, promotion, retirement and get well/sympathy gifts.
It's also possible to make a gift selection by recipient. Target categories include gifts for him, her, kids, young adults, babies, family, pets and wedding attendants.
On a budget? Target allows you to shop for gifts by price. These gifts start at under $25 for budgets like mine and go up to over $250!
All of these categories are nice and helpful, but my favorite category is divided by interests. Here you'll find gifts for the curious mind, the collector, the romantic, the spa seeker, the connoisseur, the sports enthusiast, the gardner, the history & nostalgia buff, the book lover, the do-it-yourselfer, the chef, entertaining, home decorator, the technology guru, and gifts of inspiration.
If you are still uncertain, you can purchase giftcards here that work much like gift certificates!
Is there a wedding or a baby in your future? Make it easy on gift-givers by registering at Target's Club Wedd and Lullaby Club to get exactly what you want and need. Not knocked up or getting hitched? Doesn't matter! You can create your own "Wish List" for any occasion at all, even for just being you!
Merchandise
Have you ever been inside a Target? They have everything! If they don't have it, you don't need it!
What's new this month is Valentine's Day. Upon perusing some of the selections under this category, I've found gifts that are utilitarian, but red, such as a quesadilla maker. They also have decorating items such as lights, heart shaped candles, Valentine vases and jewelry boxes. What Valentine's Day would be complete without chocolate? Target has a nice selection for your sweetie. Also included is a nice selection of Valentine gifts for him, her and the kids.
Need stuff for the Home? At Target they have a great selection of merchandise! Choose from bath, bedding, furniture, garage, Home Decor, laundry, cleaning, closets, luggage and outdoor living. I've gotten awesome deals on kid's furniture at Target and they have some of the cutest decor for bathrooms of any discount store that I've ever seen. I'm particularly fond of the green frogs.
The Kitchen is listed separate from the other areas of the home, and for good reason! Target has more kitchen items than you can imagine! If you need anything for the Dining Room or the Kitchen, this is the place to come for innovative and neat looking appliances, dinnerware and cookware.
Need something for the Family? Target has the best deals on kids clothes that I've found. They are priced affordably and they hold up to any abuse your child can give them. They also wash well and keep their shape and color nicely. We have also purchased men's, women's and maternity clothing, and have never been displeased. I never miss an opportunity to check out Target's shoes, and have gotten some adorable deals. Also included are items for your pets, jewelry, health and beauty (the make-up section is particularly nice for this type of store!) and gifts.
Last, visit the Entertainment section for a selection on CD's far better than any Walmart I've encountered. Here you will find electronics, music, movies, sporting goods and toys. I do find that the toys at Target are a bit higher priced than at Walmart, but the selection can't be beat.
Your Account
Once you've actually decided what to buy, it is time to set up your account with the typical shipping address and credit card information. Suffice it to say, the site is secure. Once your basic information is entered, you can actually do a lot of neat stuff here. For one, you can look up orders you've placed in the past year! You can easily track your recent orders here, or cancel orders that might be taking too long, or on which you've had a change of heart. If someone you've ordered a gift for needs to return it, you simply go here to print them a gift receipt. You can also begin the return process for items for yourself here.
Another perk, at least to me, is that Target.com is affiliated with the Amazon.com company.
