Life can get hectic so why not try to be as organized as possible with the least amount of effort and without having to spend a fortune in the process. The Sterilite Ultra Personal Caddy has so many different uses around the house that you might find yourself saying What did I ever do without this?. Constructed of tough thick plastic, this is your first line of defense when tackling unorganized spaces, kids art supplies, household cleaners and the odds and ends that seem to pile up in record time. This looks just as great as it works so you wont have to worry about getting stuck with an ugly looking piece of plastic on your desk on bathroom sink.
Sterilite Ultra Personal Caddy
Unlike other personal caddies that seem to proliferate the shelves of Wal-Mart and Target, this one will stand up to a lot of use and abuse without the sides giving in or the handle warping. The handle features a nice, but extremely sturdy, grip area so if you have small tiny hands or ones that look like they belong to Herman Munster you will have no trouble picking this up and carrying it around. There are nice decorative airflow slots on each side of the caddy so if you are placing damp or moist items into it, you wont have to worry about an odor or smell build up. The bottom of the caddy is solid so if you are going to use this to air dry items outside [gardening tools work great in this] make sure you punch some holes in the bottom with an ice pick.
If you are planning on using this inside a closet and anticipate pulling and pushing it in and out with any frequency, I suggest that you cover the bottom of it with an adhesive felt or some type of scratch protector. The plastic caddy wont harm most surfaces but if you get any type of dirt under it [cleanser was the worst] it will make an awful noise when you slide it in and out.
The Size Factor
Even if you have limited space in your bathroom, kitchen or hall closet, this handy caddy will make the most of what you have. Measuring sixteen inches long by nine inches wide and about seven inches high, you can have this in your closet, a deep drawer, under the sink, on a desk or any other place that needs a bit of organization. The tall sides are great for making sure that items stay put I have one on my desk and its perfect for hanging staplers on the sides so they dont take up too much room inside the caddy. If you have tall closets with a lot of wasted space at the top you can purchase metal or plastic arms at your hardware store that you can use to hand these caddies. This is great for items that dont get used a lot but youd still like to have available. Because this is long and not too thick, you can fit two of these side by side in a closet and still have enough room to get them in and out without having to fight with them.
Suggestions
If you are going to use this to store household cleaners, you might want to put down a few paper towels in the bottom to catch any drips or wet spots. I picked up some inexpensive adhesive paper and put this at the bottom of the ones for the kids paint supplies. When it needs to be cleaned all I have to do is peel off the adhesive paper and apply a new sheet. To clean the outside portion of the caddy, use a damp sponge and wipe off any dirt or dust. These are extremely sturdy so you can easily toss them in the sink and wash them out if you use them for gardening supplies you can rinse them off with a hose without worrying about the cut out areas buckling or getting warped.
I also have one of these in the kitchen just for the animal treats. No longer do I have to hunt down small packets of dog boxes, guinea pig blocks, wooden chew treats or any of the tartar control treats. Since everything is in one place, I can dole out the treats all at once because there is nothing sadder than a dog looking up at you waiting for a treat when all the other animals have already gotten theirs.
This makes a great gift for a baby shower as well. Stock it up with all the little necessities that a new mother might need fingernail clippers, travel sized products for a diaper bag, thermometer, pacifiers, nipples, small bottles and what ever else she might need. You could also make one just for her and include scented candles, bath salts, aromatherapy soaps and a body puff. Sometimes new moms need a little pampering of their own!
Lets not leave the men out of the picture. These make great auto caddies too. Perfect size for auto detailing products, shop rags, tire cleaners and all the necessities for keeping their vehicle looking great. You can also have one just for the bathroom as well shaving cream, razors, band-aids, cologne and other essentials. When I said that this thing had unlimited uses you thought I was kidding right?
Here are just a few of the places that Ive used this: In the bathroom for wash clothes take them and fold them in half then roll them up and stand them on their side. This way you will never have to hunt for a clean wash cloth or run out of them. For all the kids bathroom supplies including bubble bath, shampoo, conditioner, body soaps and lotions. In the kitchen for junk mail and odds and ends that seem to accumulate in the corners. I also have one of these in the living room inside the entertainment center. This is where all the remote controls, instructions sheets for programming the remotes, extra batteries, T.V. Guide and cable channel information gets stored. Simply pull it out and you are good to go. One of my favorite uses is for housing the starter plants for my small and extremely modest garden. I can fit about ten small pots inside the caddy and this makes it a snap to move around during the day when the seedlings need as much sun as they can get. No more lugging around small planters just one trip from one side of the patio to the other and you are done.
The Bottom Line
I have nothing but great things to say about all of the Sterilite products. They are well made, functional, last an extremely long time and are fairly inexpensive. This caddy has so many uses that you might find one or two wont be enough to have around the house. You can find these at most retail department stores such as Wal-Mart and Target for about $2.50, generally located in the plastic storage aisle or kitchen accessory area. Im glad that I came across these and decided to give them a try, they have eliminated a lot of unnecessary clutter around the house and finally managed to keep all the remote controls in one area.
As always, thanks for the read!
