Pros: Quiet (really quiet). Separate ink cartridges
Cons: Could be faster in high quality modes. Bangs around a bit in high speed.
The Bottom Line: Hard to get excited about any $120 printer, but gives good results, and the 4 ink tanks will save me money.

| jimgyct's Full Review: Canon i 550 Ink-jet Printer |
Let's face it, there is not a lot of slick things to be said about any basic ink jet printer these days.
I just tossed my Epson C60, after I let it sit and the ink dried in the jets, necessitating a $80.00 repair (would have been nice if Epson said you can't let it sit in the manual).
The Cannon does a good job, is absolutely silent when compared with my Epson, prints real quick on draft modes, and gives a great color rendition.
I especially like the software with its profile editor. Lets you select and save different parameters to use for different printing requirements.
Final selling point? I picked it because of the separate ink tanks (one for each color, and for black). Don't know how many Epson cartridges I tossed with one color out and the rest with 25% to go.
The only thing I don't like is the fact that it shakes anything it is placed on. Not that that is really a problem, as long as it doesn't affect the life of the printer, and I don't expect it probably will. If I'm wrong... I'll be back!
