| wjtann's Full Review: General Reviews of US Cellular Customer Service |
I was a US Cellular customer for 3 years. The only reason I stayed was I didn't want the hassle to change my phone number. A lot of my business associates have my number and it would be difficult to inform them of the change.
In July of 2003 I changed my service from a regional plan to a nation wide plan after receiving roaming changes of $600.00 for one month. Customer service was very happy to take my change because it meant about $75.00 more a month to them. The problem was they neglected to tell me 2 things
1. US Cellular was BAND from selling service in my county (Rockingham) in New Hampshire.
2. There was a clause in the Nation wide plan agreement; you MUST use 50% of your nation wide minuets within your home region.
Last month I got a phone message from a Customer Service rep at US Cellular.. (Henceforth referred to as Useless Cellular). The message was that I had violated the 50% rule and my service was being canceled in 3 weeks!!!
I called them immediately and asked them if I could go back to the old plan
. I wanted time to get a new phone and try to notify my business associates. No Deal
the Customer Service Rep I spoke with told me that Useless Cellular wouldnt keep me as a customer and that they werent really interested in my problem. They told me they were too small to absorb the national plans roaming time. She also told me that the company didnt care how long I was a customer for.
Amazingly, they pushed my cutoff time by one week; NOT enough time to notify everyone I do business with.
Because of their indifference I did some investigating. Apparently they cant sell service in Rockingham County New Hampshire. So I wrote a letter to the NH Attorney General, FCC, & BBB. Telling them of this violation.
If you get offered a phone from these people, RUN!
