Pros: Great coverage. Cons: Poor phone selection and phone quality.
Alltel has the best coverage in Tampa. Unfortunately, they have very few phones to choose from. Is there a cool phone on the market that most of the mainstream providers carry that you want? Don't come to alltel, they don't have it. Want a ...

All of the plans included Voicemail, Called ID, 3-way calling, call fowarding, call waiting and detailed billing in all of there plans. Alltel has three main types of plans for post-paid accounts, Total Freedom which comes with no activation fee and the ...
Pros: You get a cell phone that seems to work fairly well. Cons: You get the runaround with with service questions, and nothing but bills in writing.
I hate Alltel (and the ex for causing this). Here’s why:
First, back about a year ago, I signed up for a phone so the ex could use it. He paid for the phone, and said he’d pay the monthly bills. He just couldn’t get a cell in his own name...
Pros: Lots of minutes for a little bit of money. Cons: Not enough towers, so calls are dropped constantly.
Alltel has very few towers, so when you're driving around town and talking on the phone, calls will get dropped. There is not a tower near where I live, so I can't even use the phone at home! When I make a call from home, I usually have to call the...
Pros: Great coverage since they took over the GTE footprint. Cons: More selection of phones to choose from.
At first I will explain that this opinion is based on the Ft. Myers and Naples service areas, which are included in the Tampa coverage area. The footprint was taken over from GTE by Alltel, which translates into Alltel gaining about 10 to 15 years worth...
Lies from Alltel re: contract cancellation by dmbflorida ,Nov 15 '04
Pros: I cannot say anything Pro. Cons: Fraudulent charges for a contract which did not exist.
I fulfilled a two year contract for a cell phone with Alltel. Then, the Alltel operator changed me to a different service plan upon my phone request. I was assured that I would be on a month-to-month plan from then on. I tried to cancel the service today because I rarely use the phone. I was told that I still owed 14 months on a second contract which the operator started without my permission. Warning: do not believe or trust Alltel about contracts. Today, the operator and the supervisor told me that Alltel makes verbal phone contracts and even though I did not sign anything for a contract and would not use the service, that they would bill me for the second contract.
I do not want to ruin my credit but I do not want to pay an erroneous bill.
Impartial Review of Service by cynthia-chac ,Jun 15 '04
Pros: Reliability of Service and quality of sound Cons: Billing Errors
Alltells service was impeccable as far as sound quality and rarly a dropped or unclear csll. My only complaint was questionable billing practices. Stuff would show up on my bill I never requested and would have to go through a hassle to get the credit back. I had to vigilantly review my billing details very carefully. However, they say they have corrected this problem no. Since this happend to me many years ago I am willing to give them another shot. Phone quality is important, but they must realize so is billing accuracy.
