Pros: Excellant Store Service
Can Change Plans Anytime
Family Talk
Cons: Very Poor Service Outside Home Area
Can Get Very Pricey
I was needing to purchase 2 cell phones and did not have a clue when it comes to picking a provider. So I did a little research myself and that didn't help narrow my choices down any. So I talked to some people at work and they all recommended Cingular....
Pros: none Cons: horrible billing and customer service!!!
DON"T EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!Check out what the Better Business Bureau has to say about Cingular, they were kicked out of the BBB if that tells you anything as well as THOUSANDS of complaints similar to mine which you can reference at ...
Pros: Beats a pay (public) phone, generous with new replacement batteries, could benefit from AT&T merger. Cons: Poor service, lots of billing errors, reps aren't properly trained on ever-changing mobile landscape.
I had Southwestern Bell mobile when you had to carry a 'purse' style cell phone due to the battery size; so I'm obviously a charter member with Cingular, who replaced SWBell. I couldn't count how many times I've caught Cingular with billing errors, ...
Pros: Very friendly customer service. Friendly ain't everything, though. Cons: Ridiculous fees, and inaccuracies. Of course, if they screw up, it's still your fault.
Don't move if you have Cingular service in D/FW. And certainly don't simply call in to customer service and trust that they'll make the appropriate updates to your account. Do either of these things, and get ready to receive potential late fees and ...
Pros: Excellent coverage, Cons: Few selection of phones, slow to upgrade
I am a student and am also on the road a lot. I work in Sherman, live in McKinney, and traveled frequently to Commerce, TX (Texas A&M Commerce) to visit my girlfriend. Over the three years I have had the service, I am mostly pleased. Customer service...
Pros: They're not brain sucking parasites. Cons: Customer service has NO clue and the phone service is choppy and flakey at best.
Their customer service is among the worst I have ever come across... the actual phone service is even worse than that. I'd say 75% of all calls are dropped. The signal will just suddenly drop and then return 30 seconds later. When I do manage to get a ...
Pros: Great service in DFW Cons: Coverage is spotty in areas (especially outside of Dallas county)
When I went to get a phone, I was looking for cheap, reliable service in the DFW area since I had just left a consulting job that required me to travel across the country (dropped my Sprint service in the process). I didn't have much confidence in Verizo ...
I made the mistake of getting prices and cell phone information over the phone with SBC so I could make paying bills easier(in the Dallas area you can have your Internet, home phone, and cell phone on the same bill). I needed the cell phone quicker than ...
Pros: large network Cons: Poor customer service from people you can not understand.
The problem with Cingular is that if you happen to be in a poor receiving area they will do nothing about it. They tend to blame the equipment providers like Nokia and convince you to purchase a new phone. After you have done that the service is still bad and then they do not compensate you for the trouble of the upgrade. Every year you will have to replace your cell phone equipment, so the total cost of their service is deceiving.
Pros: You're familiar with the company, Southwestern Bell. Cons: Cingular is part of Southwestern Bell/SBC and all that means.
SBC/Southwestern Bell changed the name of their cellular service to Cingular. This in no way improved their service. They are still the phone company, a mega monopoly that the government has enabled them to have. Well, now its 2005 and they are actually having to compete a little bit as SOME of their monopolies are being phased out. This place is so bloated with bureaucracy, unions and employees waiting for retirement that it is really sad and their customer service shows it. When you call for service there is so much title inflation that every other person is a "regional vice president." And these "vice presidents" actually think they are important. It's a joke. There is a reason that they come in at the bottom or near the bottom on customer service in study after study.
Horrible Customer Service by bailey8465 ,Dec 30 '04
Pros: None Cons: Their 'customer service' is about as useful as Donald Trump's hairdresser.
I live in a pretty big suburb(pop. 75,000)just north of Dallas and cannot even use my phone in the major city I live in because of bad connection, horrible reception and dropped calls. I also cannot even use my phone when I am in my car, which is when I normally would use it most.
Their so-called customer service dept. is awful. I could not retrieve my voice messages. I was told, after being transferred numerous times, that I was not telling the truth and that they have never heard of anything like that before. 3 weeks later, they called to tell me that they had a glitch in the system and now I should be able to retrieve my messages and that it wasn't just me, afterall. It was a lot of the Dallas/Ft.Worth area.
Cingular is a disaster by concerned999 ,Oct 29 '05
Pros: NONE!!! Cons: Very Poor Reception
Non-Responsive Customer Service
I have been using Cingular/AT&T for as long as I have had a cellular phone - shame on me for staying with them this long. I have a loss of service on at least one call in four. I travel nationwide and in highly populated areas like Chicago or Los Angeles, I will suddenly get a no service message. Often my phone will go from four bars to no bars and back again in the period of 30 seconds. I have written to the president of Cingular about this and other problems and received no response. Their ad motto "Raising the Bar" - an absolute lie. When my contract expires next month, I am moving my service to Verizon. Everyone I know who is using Verizon is having far less problems than I am with Cingular.
Pros: nationwide calling, rollover minutes Cons: few dropped calls here and there,
slightly expensive for amount of minutes you get
We've used Cingular for 4 years. We love the fact that they rollover your minutes. That's definitely the best feature! We have had a few dropped calls...but over 4 years, that's pretty darn good.
Cingular's Customer Services Needs A Make-Over! by rovingeyes ,Jun 30 '04
Pros: Value plans fit most folks' budget, decent coverage area Cons: Their 850 MHz GSM in Dallas don't support World phones, poor customer service
Their customer service has always been the worst I've experienced:
1. When they switched me from the TDMA to GSM plan, both my phones were NOT able to receive calls for 6 days. I called over 20 times to finally get it resolved and got different, inconsistent, border-line rude responses everytime!
2. They initially offered me a $100 credit towards my account towards the purchase of a new phone, but apparently a supervisor asked the agent to reduce the credit to $50! Did I mention that - I've been a customer only since 1997 and have been spending over $100/month. So much for a "valued customer".
3. The reps are always confused and inefficient, put you on hold multiple times for several minutes to "talk to a supervisor".
