I bought a nokia 7110 because i thought it would be an ideal mobile phone. I was right in some areas. first of all, let me explain, I am a 16 year old kid living in a small villiage where everyone has mobile phones. My family has 6 mobile phones and there are only 5 of us. Go figure.
The problem is, we all had the same mobile. A cheap one that was available for a low low price of 29.99. so we got them. I was happy with it for a couple of months. then i got bored.
Now, when you live in a small village where everyone has the same mobile, you kinda get a bit too much in with the incrowd. So when i started my new job. I invested. My parents weren't too happy. I was. I got the phone, charged it and slammed in a sim card then went to show it off.
I was greeted by everyone with wows and ahhhs. Then after just 16 hours, thats right 16 hours, the battery went flat. I mean flat. not a trickle left. I went home and charged it overnight till it said "fully charged". then started playing with it.
When the battery went flat half way through the day, i took it to a mobile phone shop. they told me something very interesting.
They told me that the standby and talktime hours qouted by nokia were for the optinal "Bulky battery" and that i only had the satndard slimline battery which supposedly gave upto 25 hours standby.
I was a bit peeved. i asked about the price of the bigger battery and they qouted £40. this was a bit distressing. so i looked around for the cheapest price but the cheapest i could find was £30. so i opted out.
the moral of the story is, check the battery before you buy. This is a wonderful phone and a great show off piece but its a bit of a pain charging it every night. especially when you want to stay out.
And when it is used with the optinal data cable and software, it is a beautiful communications center.
