Alpine 7840
Nov 09 '99
The Alpine 7840 is an in dash cd player that can also control an alpine cd changer. This is a new model for 99, which also employs Alpine's newest d/a converter. This unit also has BBE processing built in, remote control, 4-volt pre-out, and a detachable face.
The over-all sound quality of this unit is excellent. The cd section is better than the majority of the market. The bass is tight, the highs are crisp, and overall a very transparent sound. Slight details in music can be heard with this in-dash that most units fail to reproduce. The unit skips very rarely, I've only heard a few people say it ever has.
FM sound quality is great. The unit does a good job of filtering FM interferences. The only thing this unit lacks in the FM reception capacity the is a scan function.
The unit also has BBE processing built in. Anyone who has never experienced BBE, I suggest to check it out. The BBE processing really helps the music come alive. BBE adds a fullness and realism to the music that cannot be rivaled, or even equaled, by a "loud" button.
This is really a good unit overall, for the money. It has most of the features the enthusiast desires. The sound quality is nice, and the unit is definitely worth the money.
