| crazybamfer's Full Review: RCA DS5230RBC Dual LNB DIRECTV System |
I have owned my satellite over a year ago and I will never go back to cable. Now that the "DIRECTV" can carry local channels the system is even better. Satellite TV is the best value for the money.
If you are sports nut this is the system to have. The main reason that I purchased my system is for the NFL ticket. If you live outside of your favorite teams broadcast area, like I do, you'll be able to catch all of their games. It's great and if there is a good match up you want to see you can watch it too.
The price of the system is not bad but your limited to only one television having satellite reception. That is because the receiver can only connect to one television. There is and option of buying a dish with a dual "LNB". This allows you to connect two different receivers to one dish. However you will have to pay for the upgraded "LNB" and have to buy an additional receiver. There is another option of a radio frequency remote. This allows you to split the signal coming from the receiver to two different television. Since the remote is a "radio signal" vice an "infrared signal" it will allow you too change the channel on the satellite system from a different room. the draw back is both of the televisions are connected to the same receiver and will have to be on the same channel. So if you are watching ESPN on one TV the other TV will be on ESPN. If you change the satellite channel on both TV's are affected. So if you live with someone who doesn't like your choice of programs, I suggest you get a dual "LNB"
The picture quality and sound are great. I have experienced signal loss and degradation during bad thunder storms. The outage is only temporary and nothing compared to the cable outages after a bad storm.
If you are looking for sports or movies satellite is the way to go. The price is not bad for the service and you can't beat the picture quality and sound. I think I'll go watch some TV now!!
