You're In For A Long Haul!

I am writing this as an editorial, because I didn't see a spot for my camcorder, it is so old..... whew
I got my Sharp VL-L65U about 6 1/2-7 years ago, and let me tell you, it works just the way it did back then. The reason I originally got this camcorder, was that I needed to video tape some of the functions that we had in the community. So when the younger generations see it, they see the community how it was. It is 2000 now and a lot has changed here, all the development in the community is astounding! You almost couldn't tell this used to be a mom and pops neighborhood.
When I got my VHS camcorder, it was one on the top lists of cameras at that time. Now they have color monitors on the cameras, and digital video capabilities..... you know where I am getting at! I know I am a dinosaur in a modern world. That is what my camera says to me everyday! You know what.......you can say it is like a Timex, it takes a licking and keeps on ticking!
Like my camera, I have an old tripod(Which is older than dirt), and the camcorder is lighter than the tripod. So you know what I do, I let someone else carry it form me,,,hehehe No, I am not that cruel, I carry it most of the time. These days I take it to weddings, performances, games for the kids in the neighborhood, and quite a bit of functions.
I love the fact that this camera has a zoom ratio of 12x full range with auto focus. Some of the other features are: power focus, fade in/out, record review, date/time display option, counter, audio dub, on board tape counter (viewed through the view finder), a plug in for a microphone(when you want to do a news broadcast like video), Battery with charger(Which can also be used for a power supply when you are near a power source), the battery lasts for 2 1/2 hours (even after 6 years of service). This camcorder also has in/out plugs(for editing both directions(From other source to camcorder, or from camcorder to other source)), and best of all, you can just take the VHS tape out and watch it in a vcr as soon as your done recording. The other new cameras, not to put them down, are time consuming when it comes to hooking them up to a VCR or T.V.. You do get the better quality for the new types though, so I guess it is worth the wait.
I am currently working on my computer, editing video. You know what I am using for my capture source right? Yes, my dinosaur of a Sharp camcorder(SMILES). Yes I am planning to get a digital camera soon, but since I still have this camera, and it works as good as it does, why not use it as much as I can. I am waiting for the new editions of cameras to come out in 2001. It will be worth the wait, since technology is so advanced now, they will come out with one of those cameras that will knock your socks off! I will see what they have in the "Sharp" line of camcorders. This one lasted me this long, and will probably last me for the rest of my life if I take good care of it.
I never had to put this camcorder in the shop for repairs, I kept the heads cleaned, kept it dry, basically I did what any good camcorder owner would do. That saved me a lot in expenses, a lot in burdon of interruptions in my life style (By taking time out to take it to the shop, so it could get fixed), and is producing great footage to this day. All I have to do, Is make sure I have a freshly recharged battery, a new tape, and my.......... Well, heavy duty tripod, and I am set for production. I love my Sharp.
A note to all of you camcorder owners out their. If you take care of your camcorder, and do the regular scheduled maintenance, you will have a long lasting product, that will keep you happy for years to come, possibly even your life time. If you are one of those people who don't clean your heads, and keep your lenses clean, you will still have a camera, but it won't last you as long. For all of you with Digital camcorders, you know who I am talking about(SMILES) Watch out, I will be up there with you soon enough! Probably with my 2001 "Sharp" Digital Camcorder, video taping everything I see! Who knows if you are lucky you might see one of my videos in circulation one day. There are a few promotional projects that I am working on. Be on the look out for "New Dreams Creations!" THAT"S ME!
Well take care all, and happy Camcorders to you all.
