better than cable

i bought a satellite system because i was tired of spending a lot of money for a few lousy channels from Time Warner cable. I have found Hughes system to be as good or better than rca and jvc. I get a lot of comparisons because i am military and we all use satellite systems in my area. Everything from internal circuitry to the access cards seem to last longer and put out a better quality picture and sound, at times i have had the feeling of being in the middle of the action with no way out, WHAT A RUSH!!!. There is one thing that needs to be clarified before you rush into buying a system though.......expect to spend a small fortune buying the system and getting it installed. The basic of the basic systems will run about $99.00 if you want 2 receivers so you can watch 2 televisions at the same time you will need a dual lnb system which runs about $199.00 basic system. after you buy the system you will need to have it installed for a single system this runs around $99.00 and for a dual i have seen it as low as $150.00. then you can have it connected. Oh yeah i forgot to tell you the real clarification. You see if you like watching local channels like abc, nbc,or cbs you need to buy a completely different dish all together because the dish that comes with the basic system is just that BASIC it does not have the capability of receiving the local channel signal. This is not something they will tell you at the store when you are initially buying the system rather they will wait until you have already spent your money buying the basic system and installing it until they say oooohh you didn't know?? also due to the new law just passed directv no longer carries nbc, abc,or cbs east and west for areas that are being serviced with local channels BIG blow to sports fans in the middle of playoffs with no way to watch them. Don't get me wrong this system is still a lot better than cable and a LOT more cost effective however for the sports fan,i'm not sure if it pans out because there are a lot of sports carried on local channels not available on directv unless you buy a direct ticket (season pass) for around $100.00 to $150.00.
