DVD BUYER BEWARE!!
Dec 20 '00
Having purchased a PanasonicDVD l50 i realized how fragile this new technology really is. Being cautious becomes a foregone conclusion while having your kids or anyone under the age of 30 being responsible for this badboy. After numerous bangs and short falls my player experienced some basic problems, like not working.
While this player is awesome and the clarity, features, options and gadgets enticed my purchase, there are still bugs. Durability is the main problem with this unit. Due to the fact that it is a "portable" unit there lies the problem. Dvd players are not ready for the rugged wear and tear that goes along with daily life. These players are really made to be inside the home or on the plane stationary. My particular unit was even disrupted when in the manufacturers case.
This technology has a long way to go before portability means more than purse size. Beware of the salesman who claims that durability is the feature. Half of these people never shelled out 1500. for anything especially portable. Use good judgement, when your expectations are high, save yourself the headache buy a home DVD player not one for the car. I do not want to bash the product(they are truly amazing) because if you walk on rose petals and your servants hold steady this is the product for you. If you are like me and are sometimes a little rough buy a baseball or a football, or season tickets to your favorite games before spending your hard earned money.
