Must Have For Any Couch Potato

If your a couch potato like me then this is a must have product for you. Tivo makes TV even better than you could ever imagine. Tivo is an enhanced TV guide that allows you to tape movies & TV shows right to a hard drive that is built into the unit. When recording onto a hard drive you'll notice better picture quality over a VCR tape.
It also allows you to pause a TV program right in the middle of it so you can answer the phone or get up and then come back & replay the program from right where you left off. And as your watching the TV program you paused it is taping the rest of it for you as you watch what you missed. The TV guide integrated into it is very comprehensive as well. Also, compared to setting up your VCR to record your favorite TV show every day or once a week, TiVo makes it a piece of cake by simply locating the program on the TV guide screen than pressing a button and your done.
As of now Tivo has come down in price for the average home user. You can buy one a Circuit City for $300 & send in the $200 worth of rebates for it & only end up paying $100 for the Tivo unit.
The cost for the Tivo subscription service is $200 for the lifetime subscription, $99.95 for a 1 years subscription, or if you choose the monthly subscription it is $9.95 a month.
I have a Dish Network satellite system & the Tivo guide is good, but the one on my Dish Network system sometimes you still have to use.
A big downside to the Tivo unit is that if you own a satellite receiver that is UHF & not infrared for the remote it won't change the channels on your satellite receiver. This is a bit of a nuisance, but not a big deal to me. I bought Tivo for recording TV shows to the hard drive.
Another thing that Tivo doesn't tell you is your initial setup when it gets your TV channels if your on satellite like DirecTV or Dish Network the Tivo unit took me 6 hours to setup before I could use it. Plus, the screen stays on the Tivo not letting you watch anything else while it sets itself up. So, when you set it up I recommend setting it up over night.
Over all I like the Tivo product & it's ease of use. It will make watching TV more fun for myself.
