The Motorola StarTac 7860 packs a whole lot into a small package!!
I decided to upgrade from my standard cellular phone to a digital one as a result of a mailing I received from Bell Atlantic. They were offering the StarTac 7860 as a promotional phone...so I could upgrade without the up-front cost of purchasing the phone. I was expecting to get a very basic phone, certainly not what I got!!
The StarTac 7860 is tiny. This scared me at first, I thought it would be too easy for someone to steal it. But then I realized that I could wear it (it comes with a plastic holster/belt clip) and it would always be safe with me, and since it is so tiny I don't even notice it.
The quality of sounds on this phone is incredible. I was accustomed to standard cellular, and the first phone call I made on my StarTac 7860 blew me away. It sounded even clearer than my cordless phones at home!! And one feature I LOVE is that if I were in an area where there wasn't digital service available, this phone is also analog capable so I wouldn't lose service. This phone even works in the underground Metro tunnels!!
My cell phone was a Motorola as well, and the StarTac 7860's menus, phone book, etc are all very similar to the cell phone's, which made it very easy to transition from one to the other. The only thing I can "complain" about is that there isn't a case available that you could leave the phone in while you are talking. This is obviously due to the design of the phone--it folds up when not in use, and is not a real huge concern. There is a leather case available, as well as a hands-free headset, and data connectivity package.
If you are looking for a high-quality, light, easily portable phone, then the Motorola StarTac 7860 is for you!!
