| jjec02's Full Review: RCA DRD523RB DIRECTV System |
A little disapointed in DirecTV. I really don't think it is the way to go for the amount of money you are investing in this. On my DirecTV, I have the basic cable channels, HBO, Cinemax, and all of the Fox Sports channels. I do not have the much needed local channels. A small town in Missouri, where I live, we wont be getting local channels for about another six years. How long does it take. If we even want these three channels in the year 2206, we have to pay about twenty-five dollars a month on top of our other massive bill.
When I first wanted DirecTv installed, they said they would come out and do it for me within two days. So they showed up at my door a week later (No problem, right?). These two guys seemed to know what they were doing, but for some reason they couldn't figure out how to hook the remote to the receiver. I can change channels, but not turn it on or off using the remote control.
Furthermore, last summer the roofers accidently hit our satelite while working on top of our apartment. I was unable to fix it myself, so i thought i might call one of my "tusty" DirecTv people and have them come out and fix it. They can't get to downtown Columbia until the next two weeks, because they were pretty busy. After it was fixed, they proceeded to charge me for a full month of not watching t.v.
Yes, there is a lot to watch on DirecTv. But why do I have all of these Fox Sports channels. The only thing you can watch on them is bad sports casts and your own city's games. I do like the variety of movies on, but if you want to see a different one not on HBO or Cinemax, you have to order Starz or something, and that would cost more to have per month than your regular cable company would charge.
The list goes on and on, and I am not a big fan of DirecTv. It sounded like a good idea before I bought it, now that I have it I guess it wasn't all that it was built up to be. Maybe I just take it for granted. Anyway, who needs to watch all of that meaningless television.
