MP3's, portable, downloadable music of the future.
May 01 '00
Music is what I do. I am more interested in getting MP3s now than ever before. I am about to top off a 2 gig partition with free music that I have either ripped from CDs borrowed from the local library (you really should borrow from them, they have some cool music), or downloaded off of the internet.
There is only one small problem with the current state of MP3 technology. I want it to be on CD as a portable music source. I have not seen a CD player that will play them yet... where are the personal electronics companies when I need them most? Well, I am hoping that I am not the only one who thinks that the Rio is "ok" but, one hour of portable music in that thing is crazy... mini CDs in the .cda format (the format your songs on store bought CDs are in)would make more sense... or better, mini CDs in the MP3 format!!! Can you imagine 10 hours of your favorite music on one CD?
This is the direction of the music industry. Free music will make all of them so much cash, they won't hardly stand it! And if you sell your CDs in MP3 format, you will have so much more room for other cool stuff to add to your CD, music industry... picture albums, official and fan url's, short video clips, and other things could really leave a fans head swimming.
The future of portable music is right around the corner... its name is MP3!
