Stay away from this camcorder!!!

Feb 28 '00

I have been selling camcorders for over 5 years now, and I have never seen a more problematic camcorder than this one. In my store alone, we have probably sold 30 of these camcorders and at least 15 of them have come back with the same problem.
This problem has been verified by a representative from JVC as being a defect in the camera, but yet they did not recall the product. The problem is called "pixellization," which is where the camcorder is taking pixels out of a certain area in the picture and replacing them somewhere else in the picture. Not very good. Results in a very splotchy-looking picture, which is very very frustrating to the customer, especially when they are taking video of a special event they want to have video of for a long time.
You will be able to find this camera in some stores for as low as $499, but it is not worth it at all. I would suggest one of the Sony Digital 8 camcorders instead, or just stick with VHS-C for a good, inexpensive, and convenient camcorder.
