Pros: free coverage for shelter animals adopted though petfinder.com Cons: they don't pay you for what they supposedly cover!!!
I got my puppy from petfinder.com and therefore received 2 months free of this insurance. I was thrilled, since my puppy had quite a few shelter related illnesses. When I first called, I told the man on the phone that I wanted to activate my free 2 ...
Pros: Great coverage Cons: pre-existing conditions not covered - understandably. Routine not covered.
I am enrolled in the Share Care Plan. I have 2 dogs. One of my dogs is 2 years old now. We adopted him as a puppy and after having him for about 6 months me and my husband woke up in the middle of the night to him shaking on the floor. We had to rush...
Pros: nice website. Cons: don't get anything for what you pay
So, at first, it sounds like such a GREAT idea... you know.. you take your dog out... your dog gets injured... and you're all good! Your dog swallows something... you have to get the stomach pumped... you're all good!! No. This company is a ...
Pros: great at taking your money not at paying you back. Cons:
take your money when they don't have permission & they won't pay you back
I signed up for the one month free coverage provided by the shelter I adopted my dog from. At the time they asked for my credit card info, but just to confirm I was who I said I was - or so they said. The young lady that helped me was super friendly and ...
There are people who have tried to stretch the meaning of "provoke" to include just about anything, in the hope of getting around the strict liability laws. In one of my cases, a dog bit a woman on her mouth, and the wound required 120...
Pros: If your pet is healthy and young they may cover something. Cons: If your pet is ill, you've got a 50/50 chance it's covered.
My experience is that PetCare talks a good game but they don't cover your bills. I have a cat with early stage kidney disease. Not covered. Anything upper digestive, not covered. So they'll cover a urinary tract infection basically. If your pet is old, forget it. Nothing will get covered. They only now have come up with a plan that covers wellness visits. Up to now, that wasn't covered, and I had a Gold policy for my other cat. I've spent $33.35/month for the both of them for the past 3 years. Guess how many claims were satisfied - ZERO. That's $400/year I could have had in a bank account. That $1200 over 3 years which would have covered my older cats medical bills. Instead I'm out the $1,000 for her bills and I'm out $1200 in insurance costs for NOTHING.
Pros: Easy sign up process Cons: Terrible claim process
Just won't pay
I've been a subscriber for 15 months and have paid about $700 in premiums (QuickCare Gold plan which is the most expensive at US$55 per month)
Six claims (all endorsed by a vet and supported by a vet receipt) and countless hours later, I have not received any reimbursement from them but lots of excuses.
They do NOT cover
- Routine checkup
- Vaccinations
-Gastroenteritis
- Hip Dysplasia
What do they cover?!
Pros: Have covered what they said they would! Cons: Cost
I've had my one dog insured through PetCare since he was six. It's been a positive experience for me. They have covered everything they said, even covered three root canals for teeth that were sheared off by chewing on hard items (covered them under "accident"). They did exercise their right to increase my premiums (now are at just under $40/month Canadian), but they have still paid out significantly more than what I put in. It will be interesting to see if my positive experience continues as my guy starts to get more of the gerentological conditions like arthritis, cysts, etc.
Very disappointing! Tried to make a claim on a common illness (that should be covered by my plan) only to have been denied. The coverage is terrible and many stipulations apply. Unless you pay for 100% coverage in the master plan they will not cover common illnesses. The customer service is also terrible and very unwilling to help. They were not at all concerned about losing numerous clients.
They will think of any excuse not to cover your pet by butterfly2277 ,Aug 20 '07
Pros: none
Cons: Rude customer service, weeks to process claims, they find any excuse to deny claim forms.
Don't Go With These Guys Total Rip Off!
PetCare denied my cat's hyperthyroidism bills on the basis that my Veterinary had written a note saying that I had noticed that my cat was losing weight over several weeks. Even though the blood work was done well after the 30 days blackout for new customers, because I noticed that my cat was not eating before the 30 day cutoff all my claims with them in regards to this disease have been denied. Apparently my noticing my cat hadn't been eating very well was just the same as having a medical degree and giving a medical diagnosis, and having a premonition about what my cat's blood-work results would be.
Everyone I have talked to at customer service (after waiting on hold for and average of 15 minutes) has been very rude. One lady started yelling over and over that they would never and will never process any claim that I have regarding hyperthyroidism.
Pros: NONE Cons: Bad service and a waste of money.
I enrolled in their services on June 12 and when I didn't receive any documents (even though they were still charging my card) by July 12, I called. I was nice about it, and the representative was short with me and somewhat rude. She claimed another set of documents would be sent out and I'll receive them in 10 days. It's now August 22 and no documents - but they still charge my card. Of course I'll be canceling!
Don't purchase Petcare Pet Insurance by tgrodriguez89 ,Oct 24 '03
Pros: None whatsoever! Cons: Do not pay for covered perils, rude to customers
Hi!
I have had a very negative experience with PetCare Pet Insurance (http://www.petcareinsurance.com/). I have nothing good to say about this company that provides insurance for pet owners in both Canada and the U.S. They refused to pay when my Pomeranian was stricken with cancer which a covered disease. I filed complaints with the local Attorney General's Office and the Better Business Bureau and the Insurance Commission. They wouldn't budge. They kept changing their reasons for refusing to pay, initially they claimed it was a pre-existing disease because it was initially thought to be heart problems. They later said that if it was diagnosed they would pay, well guess what, they never paid the nearly $1,000 that they owed me and they were very rude in the process. Yet they gladly collected my premiums. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Stay away from Petcare Pet Insurance, you are better off not insuring your pet.
Pros: Well Known Cons: No contact with customer, high premiums, low coverage
My cat was *luckily* canceled after my credit card expired and I was not contacted. They didn't even contact me to tell me I was canceled after being a loyal customer with no payment problems for over 2 years! When I called to add another cat on to the policy, they told me that I would have to pay for both cat's premiums upfront and that there was NO flexibility in that policy (even if it was there mistake!). I said "you would rather lose my business (2 cats at $20 a month!)than be flexible with me?" The answer was "Yes".
