| RVGolding's Full Review: Motley Fool Message Boards |
The main reason I have selected The Motley Fool for a review is because I have learned a lot since becoming a Fool a bit over a year ago. That is not because I'm a newby investor--I've owned stocks since 1942, and made sure my 5 kids owned stocks too. I'll admit it took a long time for most of them to get interested, but I have four-fifths of them reading portions of the Motley Fool now.
For one thing, almost any stock you can mention already has a board where stockholders can shout for joy, or weep and moan, any time something happens that affects the market price. There are many silly questions asked on any board, and most of the time someone will take the time to answer it. There a lot of meaningful statements and questions, too. Those will give you a lot of insight as to where you might direct your attention, for good or bad.
Incidentally, I might throw in right here that Fools (with a capital F) are the opposite of the Wise, who are the talking heads on channels like CNBC, MSNBC, etc. who explain why the market went down 30 points due to the president saying that prices are high, or it went up 50 points because IBM showed an unlooked for profit. Any good Fool shouldn't tell you to buy (or sell) any particular stock. He/she might suggest you think about a move, but should leave the decision making to you.
Someone else has mentioned the Fools of a Feather Board for people from each state rally around whatever concerns citizens of that state. There is the Living Below Your Means Board that'll give a reader all kinds of ways to save money, not to spend money, or how to make do with what you have. For old codgers like me they have the Retiring Fools Board and how to convert IRAs to Roths and whatnot. There is really something for everybody, trite as that may sound.
