Great review. Another way to tell if your baby is getting enough milk is by their diaper count. If a newborn is wetting 8-10 diapers a day, then they are getting enough.
My daughter though is one of those that wets less often but in large amounts. In that case, they weight the baby (at the doctors) and if they are still gaining, then all is fine.
Awesome job!!

Diaper output is a more reliable indicator than sucking/swallowing when it comes to gauging whether baby is getting enough, but I won't split hairs. ;)

Your review is well written and informative, but as a male, I'm not touching the breast feeding issue. I'm just going to keep reading and learning from the reviews.

The iron in baby formula also causes colic or stomach ache in some babies.

#3 and a few typos (Reply to this comment)
by gretajw
I just wanted to add that under point #3--for most women, milk doesn't "come in" for 48-72 hours. This doesn't mean that the latch is incorrect--it is a function that the baby is not in need of volume but of the enriched colostrum.

Also, check your typos...

this is well written, but I must add that my wife didn't produce enough milk to breast feed. She did try with our first one and breast fed for 2 months at which point she was having to make bottles for our son because he was still hungry after nursing on both breasts. Some women do not produce enough milk.
