Do you believe in angels?

After reading many editorials on SIDS that that are incredibly sad or telling us what to do to try to help prevent your child from dying of SIDS, I decided to write an editorial on SIDS with a happy ending.

The story that I am about to write is true. It is not about someone I know personally. I saw this story on television about a month ago. It touched my heart so deeply that I've been wanting to write about it for a while now. I just didn't know if it would be an appropriate to write about something I saw on television.

Unfortunately, I do not know the name of the television show or station that I saw this story on. It was a show on cable that was real people telling spiritual things that happened in their lives. I am not using the person's real name in this story.

Twenty-five years ago, Sandy had her first child. Like most other new Mom's, she was filled with joy and happiness. Unfortunately, when that baby boy was five months old, he died of SIDS at home in his crib.

It took Sandy quite a long time to get on with her life after that. Eventually, she ended up having two daughters and went on with her life. She never did forget about her first born son. She keeps his picture on her nightstand so he is the first thing she sees when she goes to bed and when she wakes up in the morning.

Now that twenty-five years have gone by, her two daughters have grown up and moved away. Sandy works as a 911 operator. It was always her dream to help people and she loves her job. It makes her proud to go to work each day.

One day at work, Sandy gets a call from a woman who is desperate for help. This woman runs a day care center. When the woman went to wake up a five month old baby boy, he wasn't breathing. She knows CPR but was not making any progress. When Sandy heard this, she knew she had to try to help her. This just hit too close to home. Sandy quickly placed a call to the paramedics and they rushed to save the lifeless baby.

To everyone's surprise, the paramedics were able to save the five month old baby boy. Everyone breathed a sigh of relif. It was like a miracle. This baby was blue and not breathing for quite a few minutes. Sandy was on the phone with the woman who placed the call the entire time. She helped calm her down and told her what to do.

When the call was over and Sandy was filling out the final paperwork, she noticed something that shocked her and nearly made her heart stop. You see, the day care center was actually a house. It was the very same house that Sandy was living in when her baby boy died of SIDS twenty-five years ago. She couldn't believe her eyes. Another baby boy who was five months old almost died in the very same house.

Sandy truly believes her baby that died of SIDS twenty-five years ago was the angel that looked out for that dying baby and saved his life. Maybe the reason The Lord took him away from her was so he could provide life for others.

I found this to be an incredible story and wanted to share it with anyone who didn't get the chance to see it. So now do you believe in angels?

~Thank you so much for reading.~
