Glad you enjoyed yourself! We're on our way there again with 4 little grandchildren. I haven't written for Epinions for a few years and find I must update the info. The prices of course have risen since I wrote the original article. The sites are now approximately $30 - $35 a day for camping. Hope my article helped you out! Shar

Just returned from 4 days in "Paradise"! What a campground! Back to nature and the simple life!If you want to relax and reconnect - yet keep plenty busy, THIS is the campground for you. Lynn and Pat Swagart and their family have done a magnificent job here, be sure to ask them about the history of their island! Let the Loons sing you to sleep each night and greet you each morning! Now everyone will want to go there! Just kidding. You are so kind to want to share a bit of paradise with the world. Some of my favorite vacations was camping as a little girl. Getting close to nature is something too few people experience. It sure is a stress reducer. Great review.

You've described what I consider to be a perfect camping spot. The campground owners' attention to preserving nature is admirable when compared to some of the urbanized campgrounds I've visited. I prefer that the loons I hear each night are on the lake as opposed to in the mobile home 30 feet away!...Mark

Well, if you ever do make it and see an old couple (actually my husband only looks about 35 or 40) that look like they're bonded together at the hands, walking a large old golden retriever, or chasing a cute little redhead, freckled child...that's us!

We live about 3 hours from Nevis. Not a bad drive when we go for 2 weeks or 3-4 day long weekends but definitely too far for just a weekend. (My hubby says I pack everything but the kitchen sink so it just isn't worth getting "that ready" for two days.

I've camped with my son since he was a baby and although we mostly stick to established campgrounds for safety reasons, we prefer small private campgrounds to the large corporate type. If we ever get to Minnesota on vacation (we usually get sidetracked in Montana), we'll definitely check it out.

I had lived near Nevis MN, I never knew this place existed. It sounds so wonderful, I wish I had known. We're scoping out campgrounds all the time. Great review. To bad I'm a couple thousand miles away.

Want my "camping list", Pam? I made one over 10 years ago and about 10 copies along with it. WOW! It is so much easier having that list and just checking off everything as you go along. I think we MN. people should have an "Epinion" weekend there this summer. Just a bit different from Andres!
