I had this occur one time, early in the roll out of the processor.

When you have it 'ready to go' do one last edit in the 'HTML editor' pop-out box, whatever its name is.

Delete all the p an br tags there that you do not want and there ya go.

I was seeing that every time I went back into the review to edit it was adding extra spaces everywhere there already was one. Though to be honest I have not had that problem at all in my latest reviews.

I assume at some time you have completely logged out of the site and 'rebooted' it so to speak..??

I "fixed" my last review, on which you Commented, by turning of the WYSIWYG editor to clean up the ever-reproducing lines, and it helped.

hey there again... Yeah, I saw that you had corrected it; I deleted my 'to be deleted' comment there.

It took me some time previously to figure out what the h3ll was going on when I had that same problem.

Some day it will all be 'smooth as ice'.

RE: New WYSIWYG Text Editor Help Thread

I just posted using the new editor and I have to say it was simple and easy today. YaY!!

I have found it is easier not to bold or italicize anything until I have it set in the form and then I go back and do that to my review that I've pasted from Word.

I was very pleased with it today. :) I must admit I haven't tried putting a link in yet though...I'll do that, eventually.

Putting in the links is one of the things I like best about it. I've been using the paste from Word function (well, OpenOffice in my case) and it works like a champ!

Have fun!

Help!

I have tried several times to insert html links to write-offs in a review, but nothing gets accepted, whether I use the WYSIWYG editor on or off.

Update: I figured it out!

I'm really loving the new way to insert links now that I've figured it out thanks to the help I received from a few members on the the board...

I hope I can explain it here...First go to the review you want to link to, highlight and copy the url, then go to your review and highlight the word or phrase you want to create that link...Then go to the top of the page and you will see what looks like a two links in a chain, they will be darker then normal..put your curser over that symbol and it will open up a box that says insert link, then paste your link on the line and hit the word insert on the bottom left.

Voila, that word you highlighted will be your link...I hope this helps. It's made it so much easier especially not having to write the html codes

Re: Help

Wouldn't it be nice if the FAQ could contain things like that? :)

Yes, that would be cool. Would other members be interested in helping to maintain and generate content for a community FAQ?

RE: Help

I would think it should be on-site, linked within FAQ. We shouldn't have to go off-site for something this basic (even Microsoft has stuff like this for Windows!).

With all the questions about the text editor, wouldn't this save frustration? The "picture" Rex passed on really was effective, more so for some than typical "text" instructions.

Another might be the "update" function for updating reviews.

I would also think that someone with direct access to the code documentation might be the best to put a few of these together - and integrate them into FAQ or update pages.

Thanks!

I ended up getting it done the old way, but now I understand the new way, too.

Yes -- with all due respect to those people that have contributed to the EpiFAQ (thank you) -- I think an on-site, community-maintained FAQ (along with writing samples, community events, and general Epi culture), would be a huge benefit for all users.

And as with EpiFAQ, the wiki is probably the best publishing medium.

paragrpah (sic)
Sample workflow:

1) write
2) format
3) spell-check
