RE: Boring!
I'm a huge psychological horror fan and I too had been looking for something to spook me. I came across Session 9 by accident one night on one of the movie channels. I didn't have any expectations because I had never heard of it before. It doesn't have the visual guts and gore of your mainstream horror flick. It has the deliberated creepiness of The Shining with minimal visual effects like Ringu.
I'd like to see your opinion of this movie if you haven't seen it yet... |

umm you have to see it
to have an opinion. As a resident of Mass, and knowing of the history of Danvers Mental Hospital, I though session 9 was downright creepy! great psychological horror! |

opinion of scary
I read almost everyone scary movie and conclused that its basely about ghost, clown, monster, hell, or undead. so i came up with each one on my own opinion. dont get me wrong, there might be more.
Clown - isnt scary one bit. the movie "it" is lame when you figure out its just a huge spider.
Undead - zombie are not real and never will be, impossible. cant be scary and never scared me. runnign zombie is probably the same thing as someone trying to chase you and kill you with a knife but instead eats you.
monster - thats funny.. i was never scare of any "monster".
hell - we are all afriad of hell, no one can denied that. hell has been spoken as the scariest thing that haunts you to reality. but hell movie isnt scary, seem a lot but never think any is scary.
ghost - a very interesting subject. since ghost are known to exist, i believe thats what scares us because when we see a movie and compare it to reality, we know its real. ghost movie such as juon, the eye (good example of ghosts), or any other ghost movie or unexplain things that happen such as the blair witch project due to people dissappearing, unexplain figure or things moving.
of all the things that scare us is ghost. when you think about it, people are scare of death, the unexplainable things that happen. well, i may be wrong, maybe ghost isnt what scares us. why not hell? well thats simple because you will suicide, if you see something so terrfiying. you wouldnt stop and think about what will happen afterlife. same goes to nightmare, when you have a nightmare, you want to wake up, want to die or something or the nightmare wouldn't end. other such as zombie and "clown" lol, isnt what scares us, we're only scare of such movies because it shows or give us a little of what scares us. well thats only my opinion. sorry, i got off track but anyways, what scares me is ghost movie. any movie related to spiritual figure creeps me out. |

RE: Ur all wussies!!!
First of all you are 14 and hitting puberty, therefore you didn't even exist when those movies you stated to have watched, first came out. Today Movies have enhanced graphics, effects and so on, making old horrors look less scary. Don't lie, you had the light on. Your just another typical young kid trying to act tough. |

scariest movies
Be warned not to take this message seriously. I'm just releasing some steam over the internet, because I'm currently opinion happy and have nothing else better to do.
(Rant Time)
You sure have lame views on scary movies. Seriously, 'Edward Scissorhands' is not a horror movie, in fact it's in the comedy section at Blockbuster. Just because a movie is a classic or was scary at the time doesn't mean it's the scariest movie ever made. I hate it like hell when people think they sound sophisticated for calling movies like 'The Shining', 'The Exorcist', or worse 'Alien' the scariest movie ever. The truth is that although they were once classics, the visual effects and camera work of today far overshadow classics such as those in the scare factor.
(End of Rant)
Some scary movies in no particular order:
Visions of Suffering
The Nameless
The Amityville Horror
Juon: The Grudge
The Descent
The Hills Have Eyes
Salo
(Returns to Rant)
Also Hostel isn't violent compared to movies like 'Guinea Pig' and 'Aftermath'. Now I'll meaninglessly list the sickest movies ever made in order:
1. August Underground Mordum
Basically the most violent fake snuff/rape/incest film ever. Some people just have some sick fetishes. Involves guy forced to cut off of his own 'thing' using a pair of tiny scissors on a grainy camera. Need I say more.
2. Aftermath
Basically gory fake necro porn
3. Cutting Moments
8 minutes with a stationary camera of torture, rape, and necrophilia and a guy gets beaten to a bloody pulp with a fire extinguisher.
4. Cannibal Holocaust
This is mostly because they slaughter real live animals. Banned in several countries.
5. Guinea Pig: Flower of Flesh and Blood
6. Murder-Set-Pieces
7. Ichi the Killer(uncut)
8. Salo:120 Days of Sodom
9. Men Behind the Sun
10. Irreversible
This movie is irreversible
(End of Rant Part II)
I apologize for all that random banter. I just had to get that out and educate random uninformed people that I don't know. I'm getting way too opinion happy :0 |

RE: Scary monsters
I've been watching scary movies my whole life- I was not a very sheltered child when it came to movies- my father and I watched everything together. So, none of those movies really scare me. Now, movie moments- that's another story. For example, Michael Myers quietly staring at someone through a window is more scary than him actually stabbing someone. Psychological fear is much more scary, I think. Oh, and there are a few scenes in the latest Amityville Horror that freaked me out- but as a whole movie, it doesn't do it. I'd like all of the truly greatest scares (great in my opinion, anyway) to be made into a montage.
That Bravo show, the 100 scariest movie moments and the sequel to that show were lame- they did not showcase anything really that scary- maybe a couple things- I don't know who here has seen it.
I have a friend that thinks Hostel is the scariest movie ever- I think it is frightening that something like that can really happen, but as far as making me jump in my seat- not a chance.

Best Horror/Thriller Movies of our time
I have watched just about every single horror/thriller movie that is highly rated by everyone here. Here are my suggestions of the 5 GREATEST(not necessarily the scariest)movies that i have seen in my time on this earth, with ratings out of 100
1.SAW 1, 2 & 3. You have to watch them all they are the best movies i have ever seen.SAW 2 was my favourite.Great twists. Rating = 98
2. SE7EN. If you have not seen this movie then you are definately missing out. One of the best i have ever seen.
Rating = 95
If you have not seen these movies then you may as well go and jump off a cliff. Or if you prefer it you can go and rent or borrow them or even better you can buy them. Without being the scariest movies of all time these 5 movies are the best psychological thriller/mystery/horror movies of all time. If you disagree then check your pulse.

hah, this time I meant the comic actor, but I will probably go see this, not because I liked the original Halloween series, I wasn't a fan, but because I do like Rob Zombie, and am interested in how he will direct this. |
