A red letter day...

...
Browsing through the 'New Books' shelves at the local branch library found six books that called to me to pull them off the shelf.

All six unreviewed; and more unbelievable, all six in the catalogue..!!

I will make sure not to badmouth the catalogue and search function until all six are read, reviewed and/or returned to the library.

Now if only I could find the equivalent 'new' shelf at the local big-box store . . .and be able to afford the 'check them out'.

Tom... I'm sure you'll have already thought of this, but I'm pretty certain that undead monkeys are behind this strange event...

Julie

I was afraid this joyous, red letter day would somehow turn into a type of Sisyphean task.

Thanks a lot buzz-killer..!!

RE: A red letter day...

I used to have the same feelings of elation when returning from a particularly "full bag" day of looking around at the library's new release shelves.

Unfortunately, they are bare these days. Apparently, those living in the county aren't as fond of books as I am, hence not passing the millage that would allow the library to continue receiving the amount of money it has been used to.

They now only order about a dozen new books for each area (adult fiction/non-fiction, YA fiction/non-fiction, etc) per month. It's a sad site to behold.

Re:

My most recent library trip yeilded one book already reviewed once before and three never reviewed, two of which were in the database already...of course, none of them were new, and the type of books I read generally aren't reviewed here before I get to them, but still...

That's true. I have a new book, too, that is in the catalog and unreviewed. It's just reading a book and writing a review is a long term commitment.

I know what you mean.

That whole 'reading' thing is soooo overrated.

And then actually feeling like you need to tell someone else about it . . .how lame is that..?!?

Uh oh, now I'm going to just sit and watch on this one too.

I just had a an exciting day...hanging out in a bookstore waiting for the magical moment (you know the harrypotterreleasemoment) to arrive I found a book, cool one too, and err, nobody has reviewed it, AND it's in the DB. Yeah. Almost made it worth the 5 hours in the bookstore.

Good for you, so, have you finished one of the books yet...wait, you can't do that one, I just read it.
