The Bill Elliott Swing Orchestra (BESO) is one of the best present-day swing bands. No "ghost" band, they mostly play originals written by Bill, and his compositions are truly fine! Danceable, catchy, very clever lyrics.
The band's sound is powerful, clean and jazzy. (Most players are studio musicians in LA for their day jobs, I think.)
"Streamliner" leads off the CD -- moderate tempo, great breaks, and great fun.
"Mildred, Won't You Behave" is next -- a hilarious song about a blind date that surprises her partner.
The hits just keep on coming after that; the only song not written by Bill is "Atcheson, Topeka, and the Santa Fe" by Warren and Mercer.
Calling All Jitterbugs may be my favorite by BESO!
