The Fight Club Soundtrack by the Dust Brothers is an amazing work. Those familiar with their production work on everything from The Beastie Boys to Hanson will not be dissapointed by this full CD of their stylings. The music is their traditional layering of musical styles, samples, and organic and inorganic sounds.
The music ranges from Danny Elfmanesque ethereal to breakbeat to hip hopish beats. High points include Space Monkeys(song eight) wildy fat beats and hip-hop rhythm that breaks into a smooth tempo driven vibe, and Medula Oblongata's(song two) sitar preambled bell driven jam. In the tradition of Barry Adamson's pseudo-soundtracks, this cd is one not to be missed.
This Cd is not for people who don't enjoy instrumental music, or the radical combination of musical styles like hip-hop, techno, and world music. It is for musical explorers who enjoy diversity. At its smoothest, this soundtrack is melodic and tasteful. I recommend it highly, as I have been listening to it for two days straight.
