The A, B, C's of snowboard shopping
May 06 '00
When buying a snowboard do some research in the field first. Also ask around about stores and their sales people reputation, because most likely they will try to presure you into buying a higher priced board than nessisary. So find some stores with honest people. When doing your research do not go to the companies web page but sites like epinions.com where people have un bias epinions. Also know your snowboarding level if you just started the sport there is no need to buy a $500 board. If you are just starting then a used board would serve best purpose then when you are ready to move up to the next level get a new board. Before you run off buying anything (like with anything else) try it out a snowboard is a valuable investment, don't throw your money away. That is why buying from a store is smarter than online. Sure online may deliver it but after you try it and if you don't like they won't take it back. So drive to a store and ask if you could try it on the slopes first. When beginning stick with the sport. At first I hated it because I kept falling and I got a concussion, but I was determined and now it is one of my favorite things to do in the whole world. Another important fact don't let people tell you what a good board is decide for yourself because peoples epinions varry. One man's trash is another man's treasure believe me in this case that saying is true. One more thing try the board out in the winter, rent boards the rest of the winter then buy now in the spring or summer. In the summer you would be saving yourself about a hundred dollars so that by far is the best way to do it.
