Warning about this motherboard
by aveacct ,May 07 '04
Pros: Overclock options, tons of features!
Cons: Serious design flaw, roll the dice if you order one...
I just went through a bad experience with this motherboard. It turns out there is a flaw in it's design which affects a few people using it. The heatsink socket on the motherboard is not designed correctly and it damages the board when an Intel heatsink is installed. Some people end up RMAing the board a bunch of times before figuring it out. Now I'm faced with RMAing forever, or paying the 15% restock fee. This is the second flawed ASUS product I've had to deal with this year, I'm starting to lose faith in them/their abilities.

P4C800-E Deluxe
by dlaw63 ,Feb 01 '04
Pros: Support for soon to be released Prescott P4.
Cons: None!!
There's not one bad thing I can say about this board. Awesome board. Easy overclocker. Lot of great features including easy bios flashing software. I did however have a hard time getting used to the post beeps when more than one USB port was used, of which I was using four so I got three post beeps. AMI finally corrected that problem and completly disabled all post beeps. It's also nice to see the price started coming down. I paid $220. for mine about 6 months ago.

Full featured and stable board
by xaj1 ,Jan 22 '04
Pros: All features you ever want, stable, fast; Solid as a rock.
Cons: Asusprob occassionally shows fluctuating CPU/POWER fan below threshold. Might be Asusprob utility problem.

I bought this board after my very bad experience with the MSI 875P NEO-FIS2R. After numerous frustrations, I ripped the MSI board out (threw it out the window) and ordered the ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe. Been through numerous BIOS upgrades and the ASUS still running like a champ without any hiccups. Bios upgrades do not kill my ASUS motherboard...unlike ahem other motherboards I threw out the window.

I have six hard-drives running...2 in Raid 0 with ICH5R; Run numerous Video editting programs. Performs great!

I spend time enjoying my new computer now instead of fixing it all the time like the MSI.

I did have 2 situations where the ASUSProb showed the CPU/Power running under threshold (alarms went off etc) but since I upgraded the Asusprob software, haven't had problem since. Might have been Asusprob utility software related problem. Anyone have similar problem?

Otherwise, I love this board. Will buy ONLY ASUS motherboards from now on!

Overall good board.
by makshim ,Jan 15 '04
Pros: Fast, Easy, Many features, 875 chipset.
Cons: Voltage issues, other issues, AMI BIOS.
As usual with ASUS, the board cam nicely packaged, and had a good software bundle. The backplate was a bit small, but it doesn't really matter. Installation went smooth, and there were no problems. People have reported many weird things to happen, but a BIOS update solves everything. To prevent this I decided to flash my BIOS with the newest version. ASUS has a feature called EZ FLASH, which supposedly flashes your BIOS by pressing two keys. I wouldn't know, because it specifically mentions not being able to use it in the new BIOS. The board also has voltage problems, and has AMI bios. The AMI BIOS was actually not bad, although the placement of options was awkward. The board layout was pretty good, a bit cramped though. Overclocker's dream board, give it some BH-5 RAM, and your 2.6 will probably reach 3.5 (If it's a good chip). I would liked to have seen active NB cooling however.

Asus still makes the best
by rbr28 ,Jan 12 '04
Pros: Bios, 875 chipset with ICH5, stability, overclockability, RAM compatibility
Cons: Price (high, but similar to other 875P boards)
If you are like me you probably researched Intel 875 boards to death and were scared by all the negative comments and reports of problems. I took a chance on this Asus board, and as usual with Asus, I was not disappointed. If you are skilled (not a beginner), Asus makes the best boards out there and this board is no exception. The board is incredibly stable, very over-clockable, has the best (most configurable) bios I have ever seen, and is packed with useful features. I had no trouble setting up this board and running it with 1GB of PC3200 memory in dual channel mode. I have benchmarks up with this board on my website. Check out

All the problems that I saw mentioned in other reviews seem to have been worked out on the board I received. My guess is that most people didn't know what they were doing, or they had very early revisions of the board. This board has worked flawlessly and I would definitely purchase it again.
