Lives up to the Hype!
by shotgun_000 ,Dec 26 '03
Pros: Sleek looks, excellent photo quality, quiet Cons: USB cable not included, no card slots
I have to admit I was skeptical of all the hype surrounding the new line of Canon printers.
Just connected mine today, and I have to say WOW! The prints really do look like they come from a photo lab. The printer is super quiet and very fast.
The software that comes with the printer is really easy to use, and does a great job of printing photos.
So far I have no real complaints. I have a few minor gripes, such as having to buy the USB cable and no memory card slots. However, for about $50 more, you can buy the i900D, which is basically the same printer but with memory card slots. The trade-off is less nozzles, which means the speed is a little slower, but picture quality is the same.
I'll update in a month or two, with results of ink fade and reliability.
Overall, great job Canon!!

Truly awesome for the $$
by ms_placed ,Dec 11 '03
Pros: Great value! The i960 has the quality and speed of a $750 printer. Cons: Poorly written user's guide - go directly to Canon's website for documentation.
Hats off to previous epinions reviewers - their reviews of photo printers convinced me to go with the i960 instead of shopping for the biggest "bargain".
If you are a graphic artist (like me) or an amateur photographer and find the quality and speed of your home printer unacceptable but can't justify spending $2,000 for a new one - check out the i960! Priced at less than $200, this printer has reduced the print jobs I have to send to a professional shop by 70% It's speed at color printing in it's highest quality mode (even over a wireless network) is faster than my old printer's draft mode.
Don't expect to get perfect photolab quality prints- there is a tiny amount of color bleeding but even the most discriminating professional can appreciate the quality for the money for routine or backup color printing. The i960 cannot print larger than legal-size. (These are not really cons but points of differentiation with the higher class of printers)
The only blemish is in the written documentation: non-intuitive, incomplete and too vague for the mass market (c'mon Canon, the i960 deserves a better user's guide!).

The Best printer for photo printing
by scillessen ,Dec 04 '03
Pros: Very perfect photos, very fast. Cons: A little slow when printing text only.
This is the best photo printer you can buy... Make sure you use canon paper though. Canon gives you 5 pieces of 4x6 paper to try and they looked better than professionally developed photos. I put in my 4x6 Kodak premium picture paper, and well first of all Kodak's paper is actually 4x6-1/2" so it does not quite fit in the printer, and when it prints, it looks like crap... The ink is heavier in spots and the gloss is dulled by the ink. And you get a 1/2" white strip that you must cut off (no perforated edge or anything) with scissors or a paper cutter. Whats the point of borderless prints? So you don't have to cut it. Right?
Use Canon's 4x6 photo paper and it is awesome!

A Super Printer And A Great Buy
by toycanon ,Nov 21 '03
Pros: Easy to Use and Great Pictures Cons: Would be nice if it had a slot for flash cards.
I had been considering the I950 for some time but was waiting for the price to drop. Sam's club just lowered their price from $197 to $149 so I checked on-line and found out it has been replaced by the I960. Dell offers this updated version for $199 less another 10% with free shipping. I ordered it on-line yesterday at 3:30PM EST and it was dropped off at my door today before 10:00 AM. I set it up in about 30 minutes and started printing super quality prints. I'm pretty much a klutz around computers and cameras but this printer makes me feel like a pro. Thanks Canon and Dell

Impressive to say the least
by dsrma ,Oct 23 '03
Pros: Fast, quiet, excellent results. 6 ink trays looks to be the way to go. Cons: Not compatible to direct print with my Olympus C-750 camera. No big deal:
I am thoroughly impressed with this printer. Price is right, it's fast, it prints beautiful pics. Installation was a snap, software is good. My digital studio is now complete!

Canon i960
by techperson345 ,Oct 11 '03
Pros: Quality is superb. Six separate ink cartridges. The 4x6 photo paper feeder is awesome. Cons: I cannot think of any cons with this machine.
I was looking for the i950 but this printer took the place of the 950. It was simple to set up, operated perfect right away. The first picture I printed blew me away. I knew I chose the right one after that. The 4 x 6 photo paper feeder is awesome and saves me from loading and unloading different paper.
