Pros: Excellent range of features for printing, scanning, faxing, and copying. Cons: Because it's got so many features, all the buttons, menus, and setups can get confusing.

I had with my last multifunction printer, I decided to shop for a new one. This time, I had the good sense to read the reviews on Epinions (which would have saved me from my last bad purchase). The ...
Pros: Excellent all around quality, fast, features! Cons: None.
I have only owned this printer for a few weeks, but I am extremely impressed with it. Replaced a 5 yr old HP 720 multi-function printer, that, quite frankly, was a piece of junk. It worked o.k. for the first year, but ever since, I've had intermittent ...
Pros: Very capable overall. Can't beat the price/function factor Cons: N. America machine can't print on CDs, fax setup cannot be controlled from the PC
After owning a Brother MFC (garbage) and a HP D145 (a work horse but mediocre print quality) I decided to upgrade to the Canon MP780. What caught my eyes was the double sided feature that until now was exclusive only to HP machines. Print quality is ...
Pros: autoduplexing, handles legal, dual paper feed, individual color ink tanks Cons: heavy at 30 pounds, no color lcd or card reader slots
As one of many work from the house professionals these days, I got very tired of driving to the local kinkos for my faxes so I decided to upgrade my very functional HP 5550 inkjet printer for one of the models that can do all 4: scan, fax, print, copy. ...
Pros: Excellent print quality, speed, two sided copies, quiet and smooth, great specs. Cons: None -- so far.
This is by far the best inkjet printer that I have ever owned and I have had quite a few. The cost of ink jet cartridges seemed to be taking too big of a bite out of my budget. So, near the top of my list was economy in operation. Since I was buying a ...
Pros: Excellent build quality, fast and flawless photos, great all purpose printing and paper handling. Cons: Minor - no flash media slots, no built-in wireless support
As an IT professional, I get to see scads of enterprise class printers. But consumer printers can sometimes disappoint me with their build quality, even if they print well. I purchased an HP 5510 last year for a family member, and while it works fairly ...
Pros: Easy to set up, fast, quiet, well-made, good photo prints. Cons: No card reader, no wireless networking capabilities.
I was set on a quest for a new printer after my multifunction ($200) Lexmark x6150's sheet feeder gave up the ghost. I always thought the Lexmark was kind of junky-- the paper always loaded crooked, I was never able to get the fax to work right, it ...
Pros: Print, Scan, Fax, Copy: Beautifully, Easily, and Efficiently! Cons: None at this time.
I was shopping for a replacement printer, not planning to buy a multi-function machine. What I actually wanted was a color laser printer. Unfortunately, although the prices on those have dropped to a "consumer range", the quality of those ...
Best multi-function available today by glenn_welt ,Jan 18 '05
Pros: 2on1, two-sided buttons, relatively quiet & shake-free. The draw-bridge! Cons: Doesn't serve champagne or caviar.
As the publisher of software that prints checks, I am forced to test MANY printers & multi-function machines every month. After seeing the latest Canon at the recent CES Show in Vegas, I couldn't wait to get my hands on one. I like to condense 4 pages of documents on to one sheet so the 2on1 and two-sided buttons are very handy compared to clicking through numerous menus with other brands. laugh if you choose but my favorite feature is what I call the "draw bridge." As you're making a copy and paper is being fed from the bottom hidden tray, the glossy black front panel slowly lowers itself to serve your finished document. Unlike the auto-document feed on most hp machines, the MP780 has scanned every sheet I've fed it without one jam. Bottom Line: I believe the MP780 surpasses competitors that cost twice as much in performance, features and ease-of-use.
Solid performance, build quality is better than average. by torrrs ,Apr 07 '05
Pros: Quality "feel," smooth operation, very good performance. Cons: Inconsequential
I am not a fan of combination anything, such as a DVD/VCR combo, or other item. My experience indicates that many combination items cut too many corners, and do not offer top performance in any one area. Going against my (in this case) erroneous instincts, I wanted a quality moderately priced all in one machine to save space, and did a bit of research.
The machines I considered were two HP's, and the Canon MP780. Although I have only owned HP printers in the past (3 ink jets), which have served me well, I was disappointed in the HP "all in one" build quality . The HP's appeared light, noisy, and insubstantial; but this is not to say that they will not actually hold up well in the long run, or that they do not produce a quality print.
Copying/scanning took noticeably longer for the HP's, and the Canon handled paper and operated much more smoothly.
The "leading" consumer magazine has just reviewed printers, all in one machines, scanners, etc., and my initial impressions were confirmed. Although a higher priced $400. HP was top rated, the Canon was next, with lower purchase price, and lower printing (ink/photo) costs.
WOW a great multi-function by wohlfert ,Jan 04 '05
Pros: Fast, affordable, great quality Cons: No network port - not important to most
We recently purchased a MP780 at my current place of employment and have been very pleased with it. Prints fast, scans very fast, and uses ink very slowly. The quality has been great. Haven't used the fax as of yet, but every other aspect of this printer has lived up to all the media I have heard about it. I plan on purchasing one for my personal use when more become available on the market.
Pros: Fast, great color, quiet with lots of intuitive engineering Cons: None
This printer replaced an HP that died prematurely. I have only had it a short time but I did a lot of research before making the purchase. I also have not used every feature but in summary: it prints faster than my old HP, much better color, better scanner resolution, it is quieter, better paper feed (it feeds envelopes and 4 x6 photo paper beautifully which my old HP did not). I am expecting to save money on ink. There are 5 individual cartridges (2 black plus colors)so all the ink gets used. Canon cartridges are a bit less expensive than HP anyway. The printer has it's own print head so you aren't replacing it with every cartridge. The print head can be replaced if necessary. Every time I use it, I discover something good. The paper exit door opens automatically when you print and forget to open it. I would highly recommend that anyone looking for a multifunction printer, consider this one.
Pros: fast print speed, fast scan speed Cons: printouts appear crooked
The main paper feed (from the back) always feeds the paper slightly crooked. It is a design flaw. There is only one "rubber grabber wheel" and it isn't even centered on the paper, it is off to the side of the printer and it grabs the paper by the corner instead of in the middle. All other printers in this price range have multiple rubber grabber wheels spaced evenly apart. The lower paper tray does not seem to have this problem.
Everything that Canon advertises on the box works as stated. When I was looking into purchasing an all-in-one, I looked at the HP7410, Epson CX6600 and the MP780. Weighing all the pros and cons of each, the Canon won it for me based on price to performance ratio. I've owned HP and Epsons in the past and have been satisfied with them, but the MP780 really impressed me because of the setup, ease of use and quality. Others may gripe about network capability and card slots, but I don't need them as my digital camera has Pictbridge. I read about Epsons print head issues and HPs software conflicts with XP SP2 and avoided those AIOs. I'm extremely happy with my MP780 and highly recommend it.
