Worst Online experience Ever!!!!! Don't buy from them.

WORST ONLINE EXPERIENCE EVER.Customer service at JC Penney Online Store has disintegrated along with their integrity. We ordered a rug (first called and confirmed in stock) supposed to be 4-7 days to delivery. Two months later after numerous phone calls and misinformation no rug. Even the customer service person told us her hands were tied and upper management would rather lie about availability and string along customers then loose a sale. You simply can't trust these people when it comes to delivering the goods. You would think that Penney's would put reputation over making a sale but upper management thinks sales first and reputation later.
Now we have been told that the rug was lost and we need to put in a claim.......Last straw...put in a claim and re-order ..No way we are trying to get our money back..what a nightmare company to deal with. Never again will we order online or ever walk into a JC Penney's store. Buyer Beware.. you have been warned.

DO NOT BELIEVE...THAT THERE MERCHANDISE IS IN STOCK...I order a floor lamp from them first part of March....then they didn't ship ...said backordered til Apr 1, 2006...now they are saying it won't be shipped until after May 31, 2006....what a rip off....

JC Penneys does not back their merchandise

I ordered a bedroom set from Penney's and received delivery in late January. I took off half a day from work to be here for the 11-4 P.M delivery window. They arrived at 5:30 so I lost half a day of work for nothing. When it arrived, I checked it over and all seemed fine. First of March, I was on the floor looking for something when I noticed the bottom drawer of the chest was not sitting flush with the chest. Seems the drawer front was warped. I called customer service and was rudely told that the 7 days to complain about damage had passed and that there was nothing they would do. Basically, too bad. I feel that a manufacturing defect should be addressed even if it is discovered after 7 days. JC Penney's does not stand behind their furniture quality. I am very disappointed in their attitude and support. I was treated very rudely and will not purchase from them again.

We also ordered a twin bed for our toddler.
It had to be shipped three times, because the first two times, it arrived damaged.
I emailed a customer service rep to see if this bed needed a box spring. They said YES. We went out and bought a new mattress and box spring.
We set up the bed, and it did NOT need a box spring. It made the mattress sit way too high and looked ridiculous. The bed was also about 6 inches too long,
and leaves a dangerous gap between the mattress and bed. There was nothing on the website stating that this bed needed an XL mattress.
I am very disappointed and we are in the process of trying to get our money back. After reading the other reviews, it looks like this will be a long fight.

I have ordered from their catalogs for years - usually clothes - online and over the phone - and don't have any complaints. Recently I ordered an end table and a coffee table online. 5 days later I received a catalog with those items on sale. I could have saved $70! I was furious, and e-mailed customer service. They quickly responded and are crediting my card with the difference. The tables were a trucked item, so the shipping time promised is vague. I think they arrived in fairly good time. But the tables had many chips and cracks. I'm not sure why, because they were packed really well. Life is too short for me to lug them to the store or try to send them back. They are white, so I glued, patched and painted them to cover the damage, and will not order furniture from JCPenney again.

I has been a nightmare from beginning to end.

I have never written a review before but my recent experience with JCPenney.com has prompted this. I ordered a lot of spring and summer clothing from the website, after it froze up my computer at least a dozen times. That was the beginning of the nightmare-- I received an email that my order had shipped on March 30, 2005 and after waiting a week I called them wondering where my order was. At that time I was told they had shipped it USPS and that I had to allow 10 working days (even though the website said 4-7 working days) because it was coming through the postal service. What a Joke!!! My order has not arrived yet and they will not give me a credit even though I have tracked the order and it has never left the "shipping partner" since April 1, 2005. In other words the order is lost and they still will not put through an instant credit but have told me I must wait 1 to 2 credit card billing cycles for the credit to go through. I will NEVER order from them again.

Every chair had either cracked/split wood, were chipped, had parts that were too short or hardware missing. The boxes looked like they had been returned by someone else because the table box was ripped in many places and a chair box looked like it was opened before with excess tape all over it. When I saw those boxes I should have just returned it all immediately instead of trying to build and then re-pack everything to return. I wonder if someone else will get my re-packed things. I hope not. Horrible quality!

I live in Alaska (Anchorage), & placed a large order. 2 sofas, 1 chair, 2 beds, 2 dressers, 3 tables. I will admit customer service via telephone is terrible until you get the right person. I suggest calling repeatedly & hanging up until you hear a good voice you like answer the phone. They told me 2-3 weeks to Anchorage, AK. I figured it was worth the wait for the great prices. I was stunned when everything arrived in only 8 days !! Local stores say 1 week for delivery during Christmas. JCP beats them all hands down for Quality, price, & competes very well on delivery time to Alaska. I will not even consider buying anywhere else now !!

Beware of "In Stock" and "Item Shipped" Statements

I placed 2 orders with JCPenney.online - well over $1000.
Although all items were listed as "in stock" that was not accurate. The curtains came in piece meal. I received an email that the chair pads weren't available at all 2 weeks after ordering and my order indicated they were "in stock". The China Cabinet was received immediately but the kitchen table and chairs that I ordered that match the China Cabinet are someplace between here and timbucktoo even though my Website account showed they shipped over 3 weeks ago. I had to make 5 phone calls and send 3 emails to find out they might be shipped in another 3 weeks. It is obvious the info on their website is not current and they have communication issues with their suppliers who ship directly to their Customers. I would not recommend ordering anything from JCPenney online if you really need it, especially if it's a gift for someone.

Great prices, service, and selection!

I have ordered from jcpenney.com over 20 times in the past 3 years. Although there have been rare occasions when an item turns out to be "out of stock", the vast majority of the time I have had fabulous results. Also, since we live in northern California, only a short distance from their Reno distribution center, I receive merchandise in record time - usually one or two days! The main items I usually order are home decor items (lamps, floor screen, decorative grilles, etc.) and curtains/window coverings. However, I have also ordered toys from them for the past 2 Christmas' in a row, and have also had excellent results. I highly suggest checking their on-line Outlet Store - I've picked up some really great items at amazing prices. Also check the Wednesday-only deals (also in the Outlet Store).

all items back ordered at least 2 weeks they charge a sales tax when other online stores dont!!! ,this will be the last time I shop online with jc pennys online,customer service not helpful!On other items the back orders were for a month or more and the merchandise leaves something to be desired,it all looks like cheap knock-offs from China!!but what really gets me is the gall to charge an online sales tax which the tsate of Colorado will never see it just goes into the company pocket,stay away from jc pe3nnys online!!!.

Kids furniture nightmare

I bought some kids bedroom set for my 7 year old from JC Penney web site. Picked up and opened it up for assembling and many of the drawers for the dressers were broken. The furniture material looked like match boxes.

I do not know if JC Penney had any quality check on the kids bedroom sets.

After spending too much time assembling, I had to pack it back and had to return it to the store to send it back.

I will never order kids furniture again from JC Penney

FALSE ADVERTISING. They do not stock all items on line or in catalog

This store advertises items in its catalog and on line that are not in stock from the day the catalog arrived. They never had it in stock. When I contacted customer service they said they don't know if they will have it in stock. FALSE ADVERTISING! There excuse was that to ensure the highest quality products, sometimes they don't have all of their products available. Why then, would they advertise something in their catalog that was of poor quality or work with suppliers that do not have the product ready for sale. It seems like, in JCPenny's rush to by low cost items from China, they no longer value their customers as they claim.

Most frustrating experience. We ordered a bed for our toddler and had so many problems with the product and customer service we decided to never buy a product we couldn't see in person first. The bed that arrived was the wrong bed. The trundle part had been used - maybe a floor model, though we paid full price! The bed was so long there was a one foot gap between the mattress and foot board. Dangerous for a kid. My husband called when he realized the bed was wrong after he had put it together. They said they would call the trucking company to come pick it up. It's been more than a week and no trucking company has called to schedule a pick up. They also said they wouldn't give us our money back until they received the bed. However, we had to pay before we received the bed. They have treated us like we are trying to steal their money and product. I hope the word spreads about what horrible service they offer and poor products. Please do not buy from JCPenny.

JC Penney is not honest. I ordered a coffee table and 2 side tables. Within 2 months, all the paint chipped off on all three items!!! Just walking by it and a shoe rubbing against it caused flakes of the furniture to come off! A glass of water was placed on one table and it seeped into the paint in an hour,causing a huge chip of PAPER to come off! They never returned phone calls or certified letters.When I spoke to one woman in customer service, she stated:"sorry, after 7 days you cannot return it!" I will NEVER buy from them again.Their furniture is VERY CHEAPLY MADE and they do not back up anything they say.Do NOT buy from JC Penney!

As far as their system for tracking I found out only through a phone call their system was down. Thay should have posted it to the web that the system was down.

The online program is easy to navigate and use. I was able to find the item I wanted, and at a good price. This site is much better than some other Dept stores' I have tried. I look forward to shopping at jcp.com again.

Easy to use website. Sorry the one item could NOT be backoredered. I would have liked to order the black blazer and had it shipped when available. Now I more than likely will NOT go back and reorder. JCP lost a sale.
