Their shipping rates are astronomical!! I don't see how it can cost $23 to ship a curtain. Be careful. If you find the right person at your local store (NOT THE CATALOG DEPT.), you can work free shipping. I would never recommend that you order on-line with them, use it as a baseline to find what you want and just go to the store.

JCPENNEY.COM - WORST ONLINE EXPERIENCE!

This was, hands down, the worst online ordering experience I have ever had! I ordered over $200 worth of ski clothing during the Thanksgiving weekend sales...only to receive an email confirmation listing higher prices than what I ordered them at...also, the free shipping and 10% off for opening a JC Penney credit card was not applied either...well, I called customer service and was advised that unless I had some proof of the lower prices, there was nothing they could do...I was obviously not happy with that response and asked for more options...I quickly got attitude from the customer service rep and basically felt like I was being accused of lying! Well, needless to say, I cancelled my order completely and will be closing my credit account ASAP! This was truly the WORST experience I have ever had online and will never shop at JCPENNEY again!!!!!!

Do not order anything that has to be delivered from JC Penneys

After reading all the problems on Epinions with Spring Air Mattress, I decided to cancel my order (before it was delivered) with JC Penneys. This was back in July 05, as of December 05 they have not credited my account giving one excuse after another.I have had a credit card account with JC Penneys for over 30 years and have never had a late payment. My advice to others, do not purchase any major furniture item that has to be delivered. One thing for sure, as soon as I get this straighten out I will cancel my JC Penney credit card and never shop at JC Penneys again.

Don't be so quick to dump the brick and mortar stores for online shopping... Once you enter your credit card number at the J.C Penny online site forget about customer service.. They don't provide any kind of tracking number to see when your $700 online purchase might arrive at your door. They say that once it's shipped by truck, it's out of their hands... Take the price you paid for your J.C Penny's product (plus the shipping cost) and spend the money in your own town... Letigre5

Horrible screw up.
I ordered online for a 2 year old toddlers birthday. They screwed up the entire order. I ordered 5 different items. They sent 5 pieces of the same dress. Wonder what they do. They charged my bill the entire order. They drop items as they wish. They have also charged me separate shipping charges for each item sent.

I purchased 2 video rockers from on line at JCPenneys and when they came they were far below my expectations and JCPenneys quality. I lugged both back to my retail store, and not only got my account credited for the price but also for the shipping fees. I have always trusted JCPenneys, for 25+ years.

I will never order from them again and would even consider not going into their actual store because the experience has so colored me against their company. 10 day delivery? What a joke. After waiting about 45 days, I had a delivery scheduled, only to be called on the morning of to be told my merchandise "could not be located" at the warehouse. Really, I had taken the morning off from work to wait for the furniture. I then canceled the order and was told I would receive a full refund... but of course I still have yet to receive this. Phone calls to the catalog service center are extremely frustrating. Just now I was told that "the merchandise people must have gone home for the day - try back tomorrow at 8." It is only 3:30... Do yourselves a favor - NEVER order from these people, unless you like being ignored.

I have placed numerous orders at JCPenney.com and have been satisfied each time. You just can not beat their on-line outlet for window treatments. The quality of their merchandise is usually equal to that of the original price so check bargains carefully to be sure you are really getting a deal.

I will NEVER shop at JC Penney online again! I had ordered my son a nintendo ds for christmas at the end of October online. They were impossible to get so I called customer service and they assured me that they had them in stock and it would be no problem. So, about two weeks later no ds, I called customer service again, now they were out and was told I would get one the very next shipment which would be in about two weeks, called serveral more times with no advail, so one week before christmas I was told by a rude rep SORRY you are out of luck. This was the only present son wanted for xmas so I ended up buying it on e-bay for $75. more then intended. I was so mad!

Horrible to the point of ridiculous. I recently ordered a mattress from JC Penny. You can not pick up a mattress at the store it has to be delivered. So i set up delivery, and receive a confirmation call the day before scheduled delivery, take that day off work and wait. No one shows up or calls. At 3:30 i call customer service to find out my mattress is on back order - can't get it for two weeks. This is less than 24 hours after they confirmed delivery. I didn't want to wait so i cancelled the order and picked up a mattress locally. Two weeks later my roommate calls me at work to tell me JC Penny is there to deliver a mattress. I have to go home to make certain they don't leave it there. I call customer service again and speak to a manager named Sharon, who promises me that the order has been cancelled. About two weeks after that a charge from JC Penny appears on my debit card for the amount of the mattress. I am still in the process of getting this credited back to my account.

I was attempting to establish whether or not a store had furniture for our baby's room when I was treated with the utmost disrespect. Not only is it impossible to send an email through their customer services line, it is even worse when you try to find a number to call to get the info you are looking for. I finally found a store number and easily got through to the department I was looking for, but was then shunted around for 20 minutes. The staff did not know what they had in stock and after speaking to several of them, asked me to call back in an hour because they were busy. After I explained that I had been on hold for far too long already, they hung up on me. This is no way to treat a customer, especially one who is about to spend a fortune on baby furniture.

JC Penneys is SOOOO Annoying!

Since I'm 6'8" I used to buy a lot of clothing through their catalog as it is the only place to buy tall sizes at a reasonable price. It is IMPOSSIBLE however to even order a few items that are actually in stock. They must take orders and then place orders with the manufacturer when they have a sufficient quantity or something. I live in Florida so it's not all that easy to buy boots even in the winter here. I try to order a pair of boots and they are "back ordered" until January 4th. Since I'm leaving to go up north on December 26 that is of no help to me. I can't figure out why a normal sized person would ever consider buying from a catalog unless they lived a hundred miles from a store or something. JC Penneys has lousy customer service, relatively poor quality, and having to buy "2 or more" quantities to get a fair price is so damn annoying. A very annoying place to do business with in general. This has been my typical experience with this firm.

I was a first time customer at J.C Penny's. I should have read the reviews first. I ordered a high end couch from them, they only sent me 3 of the 4 pieces then proceeded to tell me that I had to wait 8 weeks for the last piece, without any reason. Dealing with customer service is a nightmare, some 16 year old sounding clerk offered me a $30.00 off coupon on my next purchase as a bribe. After calling the Dept supervisor and talking to him he promised to have it taken care of that day. 2 weeks later I had not heard from him. I called the store manager, district manager and am working my way up the the CEO. I can see the incompetence starts at the top. I will never set foot in a J.C Penny's again. They should all be burned down to make way for stores with real customer service.

Unable to return a Christmas present for cash refund at local JC Penney store. Terrible uncooperative attitude. I finally just gave the present ( a watch) to a friend rather than continue to argue with Penney's.

The acrylic blanket was not like it was represented to be in the catalog. It was not soft. It was like a heavy felt in texture. Had to take back to store. Did not like blanket at all.

Order was supposed to ship out on Dec. 13th and it did not ship until Dec. 26th. No explanation just that they did not know why it didn't ship on time. This was supposed to be a Christmas gift, so it was very irritating that it was not sent when promised.

Have had alot of good experiences with JCP. Prices are fair and variety of items is good. The one drawback is their tracking a package. Right now I"m waiting for an item that was in stock and got a shipping confirmation last week but when I go to track the package it says that there is no information found so I have no idea where my package is or when I am expected to get it. It may not be JCP it could be our wonderful Post Office shipping. This has happened a few times in the past this year as I did alot of buy from JCP as I just moved into my new house.

I love shopping at jcpenneys, expesically when they have sales. The only problem I have had most of the time is the condition of the boxes I recieve from the coupany that ships the merchandize, they have delived packages that the box was all smashed up, opened and left out in the rain all night because they never knocked on the door to let us know that there was a delivery, we have complained about this before. the guy that delivers is quick he drops off the packages and takes off before we can get a look at the condition of the box to determine if it,s okay or not. Some times we are missing stuff out of the boz as the tape is busted opened up due to the mailing process. I do not believe it has any thing to due with pennys but with the shipping company. Pennys has made a mistake once or twice but they always check the problem out and fix it as soon as they can. We do have pictures of some of the boxes that were shipped to us in poor condition and told pennys of this, this was during the school months. so far I havent needed anything but I have my eye on a living room set that I might purchase. pennys does have good quality produdts and the sales are great. I've been shopping with pennys since 1970 and to this day the only difference is I usually order the stuff online rather than shop at the store as I am in a wheelchair but I always say pennys has nice things and they are afforable.
