BAIT AND SWITCH

Based on the price of the camera, the 5 star rating, and the "Verisign" emblem I thought that this would be a good company. I called and they kept me on the line quite awhile finally saying they had only one camera left and they were the only place with it. I said fine and said that I wanted it. Then started a high pressure sales pitch about exorbitantly priced accessories that I said I did not want. The guy kept insisting and finally said that OK, he would not sell me the camera. This is the absolutely worst internet sales transaction I have ever had. BEWARE!!!!

I haven't read all the comments but want to add that someone, I'm betting on WaWa, ordered a bunch of things sent to me using my credit card, had lots of mortgage companies call me, etc. I had to cancel my credit card and it was really an awful situation.

Fast Reliable & Good!

Excellent, excellent, these guys are the best.
Ordered a Canon 20D plus some lenses and accessories on Sunday night, using a non US credit card, European billing address and US shipping address. Guarantied problems, if not impossible, with most online stores. As directed on their site I mailed the scanned front and back of my credit card to their verification department. No further communication needed. My order was shipped Monday. Received everything very well packaged within 3 days (as per agreed shipping method).
I will definitely buy from them again (once I have saved up some money again).
Did I mention they are good.

Like others, I ordered before reading reviews. Got the "must call to confirm" email. Did so, expecting them to just try an d upsell me. Confirmed in stock. They insisted the battery that came with it was no good. When I declined all offers, the guy then told me OK we will ship the REFURBISHED camera. I told him site said new. He said Fine, your order is cancelled and hung up.
2 days later, I had $1300 of unauthorized charges in another state for Western Union and a prepaid cellular phone. Do I THINK there is a connection??????? Absolutely.

It's all true. I placed an order on Friday. On Sunday I called to confirm. They said my order would be delivered that Friday. They tried to sell me accessories, which I declined despite their saying my battery only had 15 minutes of recording time (a lie). This is when I searched for them on the web and found all the bad reviews. On Tuesday when the website said "working orders" under my tracking status, I called to find out the whether it would really get to me by Friday. They told me my camcorder was on back order and it would be 12 weeks. They asked if I wanted to wait or cancel my order. Given all the reviews, I chose to cancel my order. They hung up abruptly.

Avoid WAWA like the plague!

I should have checked here first at Epinions before trying to place an order with WAWA Digital. I placed an order via the Internet for a Canon ZR300 at a price of $235.00, the site said the Camera was in stock. Several hours later I received a call from one of their salesmen trying to get me to purchase an extra battery and recording tapes for the camera. I said I was not interested at this time. The salesman said OK and he would go ahead and ship my camera. The next day I decided to check my order status only to find the order for the camera had been canceled. And now the price for the camera on their website has been changed to $275.00 and it shows in stock. I called and ask about my order using the order number I received when I placed my order and lo and behold they have no record of it but they would be happy to process my order again. No thank you! Avoid this outfit like the plague.

Scam Artists

After purchasing a Canon S60 camera on-line I received a call from a salesman that evening. After trying to sell me a battery and CF card, which I told him I already had from a previous camera, the salesman told me the camera would ship in 3 to 4 weeks because it was back ordered. This was despite the fact that their web site said the product was in stock and would ship in 1 to 3 days. Needless to say, I canceled the order, which the salesman was more than happy to do. I some how get the feeling that if I had purchased the accessories the camera would have been available immediately. I should have been tipped off and run the other way when I noticed that their web order page is not secure.

I called to get more information on the Cannon SD500 since they seemed to have the lowest price. I wanted to know if it was new and if there was a catch. When I got ahold of someone I told him the model number I wanted to know about and he just said "Not available sold out! and hung up on me before I could say anything else. From reading the other reviews they must be a scam. BEWARE!!!

Unethical merchant/extremely rude customer service

Misleading advertising, unethical sales practice, extremely rude customer service. Wawa Digital and Stargate Photo, both located in Brooklyn NY, are the same company.
Called merchant to place order for camera at advertised price on website. Salesman confirmed price and that camera was in stock. When salesman pressured me for additional purchases of accessories [memory card, rechargeable batteries] and I declined, stating I was only interested in the camera, salesman abruptly said "Out of stock," then hung up. Accessory prices are marked up at more than double retail value.
This is an unethical merchant who uses low prices to bait customers into purchasing accessories at inflated prices. Merchant has no intention to honor advertised prices, and there is nothing on the merchant's website that requires the additional purchase of accessories to complete the sale.

horrible experience with the order and some psycho customer service representative

I ordered a camera online and was asked to call the customer service for order confirmation. When I called back, customer service representative told me that order has been cancelled before I could even tell the order number. On asking for the reason,he started yelling at me making remarks about my ethnicity and then he carried on with some more insulting comments. I hang-up the phone and sent email to customer service. No reply yet. It was an unbelievable experience. There is no information about this company on the company's website. I am just hoping that my credit card won't be charged. I definitely don't intend to buy any thing from this website ever. Hard to believe that any company can have such service and survive in this market. My first encounter with some psycho person.

I ordered a Panasonic camcorder from them. First time I heard that I have to confirm the order. I called them several times but they kept on hanging up. One guy tried to talk to me and asked me what do I want to order. I told him that you have asked me to confirm the order. He quickly replied it is cancelled. He did not even asked me my name, order no etc.
I think they have several names that they operate under so they never announce who they are. Poor customer service. I saw the web review that they have tried to call but so far after 3 days I have not heard from them. I agree "stay away".

Horrible..cheats.. don't waste your time

I ordered a camcorder (PV GS250) with these guys even after reading all these negative reviews(because they advertise a very good price).
I didn't even receive a confirmation email. I received a call next morning... he hung up the phone after making a racial remark, before even discussing the order. I call back some time later to track the order. A rude customer service person just informed me, that my order is canceled because camcorder is out of stock.
So please do go there, if you don't want to waste your time

I wouldn't call it bait-and-switch, but what would you call it when you get that call-back after you give them your credit card information; you turn down some guy demands you buy some $900 flash card; then are told, "We're sold out."
Never mind. It IS BAIT-AND-SWITCH.
Their automated answering device tells you they're open only 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. and identifies the place as "The Camera Store."
Do we have a rip-off here, maybe a felonious rip-off?
I'd suggest these folks rip out the phone and computer and get out of town.

Listen to what everyone is saying about these guys. I ordered a camera worth 450.00 and they never notified me that the item was out of stock. They ended up cancelling my order. I'm calling my credit card company to confirm.

Bait & Switch scam artists. Of course they also attract the lowest of low lives as employees. Purchased a new camera at an attractive price. Idiot calls me up to sell me extra memory and a case. When I respectfully declined, he informed if I knew that the camera was rebuilt; not new; and had no warranty. When I said that was contrary to the ad, he said we are cancelling the order. Save your time and deal with someone else.
