Details: Modesto Lanzone is a fixture in the San Francisco restaurant scene, and there was much gnashing of teeth when he closed his Opera Plaza Italian restaurant a few years ago. Luckily, he and his son returned with a new enterprise, right on the Broadway strip, that calls to mind this city's old bar-and-grill days. Of course, Lanzone's is an upscale interpretation, with an expansive polished wood bar, expert service, and a sophisticated menu. Try any of the specials from the grill: pan-seared rabbit, pepper-seared duck, and meat-filled ravioli.
